Somebody from the USA just told me, that the USA and UK are unconditional allies, and that the USA could in theory join the commonwealth.

This is false on two levels.
1. If the USA attacks Canada, our friend is Canada, not the USA and we have the backing of the entire commonwealth, you don't even want hear, just how many soldiers and equipment that is.

2. The valid point..

The death penalty is illegal in commonwealth

Corporate personhood is illegal in the commonwealth.

A minimum wage that is not the living wage, such as the minimum wage in the usa, is illegal in the Commonwealth.

Sole reliance on tips and other incoherent and irregular pay structures and gratuities are illegal in the Commonwealth.

Having no public healthcare system, is illegal in the commonwealth

The 2nd amendment, though not illegal in the commonwealth, is illegal in most commonwealth countries, making it quasi illegal in the commonwealth.

The USA's Governmental public education system that teaches social studies, is illegal in the commonwealth.

The USA's system of NOT having Civics, History, Geography, Creative writing, Art, Home Economics, Music, and Psychology classes is illegal in the commonwealth.

The USA failing to teach evolution, is illegal in the commonwealth.

The USA having a blanket science class, and not separating the science classes by TYPE, is illegal in the Commonwealth.

The USA's practices of having religious doctrines, symbols, and signage and implements in public schools especially in the south, is illegal in the commonwealth.

The USA failure to protect the humanity of people, in favor of defending the FREEDOM OF SPEECH, is illegal in the Commonwealth.

A Flat tax rate, that is unfair to the workers, such a tax structure as is found in most Southern states in the USA, is illegal in the commonwealth.

No taxation, also found in Southern States, is illegal in the Commonwealth, as it kills the public sector.

So what makes you think the USA could join the commonwealth ?

Flaherty right from the get go would go "screw yourselves" you dumb shits. Jim would duke it out with Harry in a back room and take him out with a right to the head.

Why would we want to? Stick to what you know.

Baby steps.

Smarties® are made 24 hours a day in two candy factories located in Union, New Jersey and Newmarket, Ontario. The company produces billions of Smarties® rolls each year.
Our History |Smarties®

Seriously though, the preservation of Liberty is a matter of conscience before convenience. That cannot be accomplished without voice, for better or worse. Truth matters, true sometimes it hurts, yet circumstance should dictate necessity, not pride, vanity, or ego. Absurd statements brought to light through reasoned response put out flames, trying to censure only adds fuel to the fire. Try putting more trust in Individual Conscience.

There are two sets of criteria to follow to be a member of the commonwealth -

Harare Declaration:

We believe that international peace and order, global economic development and the rule of international law are essential to the security and prosperity of mankind;
We believe in the liberty of the individual under the law, in equal rights for all citizens regardless of gender, race, colour, creed or political belief, and in the individual's inalienable right to participate by means of free and democratic political processes in framing the society in which he or she lives;
We recognise racial prejudice and intolerance as a dangerous sickness and a threat to healthy development, and racial discrimination as an unmitigated evil;
We oppose all forms of racial oppression, and we are committed to the principles of human dignity and equality;
We recognise the importance and urgency of economic and social development to satisfy the basic needs and aspirations of the vast majority of the peoples of the world, and seek the progressive removal of the wide disparities in living standards amongst our members.[7]

Edinburgh criteria:
accept and comply with the Harare principles.
be fully sovereign states.
recognise Queen Elizabeth II as the Head of the Commonwealth.[13]
accept the English language as the means of Commonwealth communication.
respect the wishes of the general population vis-à-vis Commonwealth membership.[14]

It does say there shouldn't be a wealth disparity but it doesn't state any standards on a minimum wage. Nor does it say anything about Death Penalties (which many commonwealth nations, including India and Singapore, currently have). It doesn't say anything about a public healthcare system, which many African nations don't have, who are members of the commonwealth.

Also even if you add together all the military spending of all commonwealth nations...you're still only looking at ~12% of the USA's military spending...not to mention different levels of technological advancement.

Uh, you're a bit ignorant. There is nothing that makes these things illegal in the Commonwealth. Each member is a sovereign nation and can set its own policies. Under the Harare and Edinburgh declarations, the United States would qualify for membership.

Why on earth would we want to rejoin what we fought and bled to be independent of?

Why would we want to....Enjoining such a relationship would subvert the sovereignty of the USA....
Dumb dumb dumb...
