That is exactly what I was thinking. This DHS alert should have gone out in 2020 early summer, when protests included acts of violence, looting, fires, destruction of public and private property. Daily curfews being announced publicly, cities even knowing in advance that another attack was imminent and would report it. Talk about being a day late and a dollar short.

A Bulletin is the lowest level of warning. It is more a status report. I agree that this is a way for DHS to excuse requests for more , such as after 9/11. But there is nothing in the bulletin that the press and USMB hasn't told us already.

DHS hasn't issued any general warnings like this, despite frequent incidents by the right and left. But I suppose the fact that the DVE's most vocal right now are trying to turn the political opposition into an enemy and declaring actual war, it is a bit more pressing than race riots that ended many months ago.g

The statement in and of itself should have been released after a few weeks when groups were growing with members filmed stating intentions of violence. George Floyd's death was a tragic event, but only an element of what soon turned into something much more than protesting his death. Calls of "defunding the police" was never understood as a call for using more money for training. The fact that someone, I'd love to know which dimwit, came up with "Defund the Police" as if that was going to lead to something positive. Likely, to intentionally coin a phrase "defund the police" should go on record as one of the stupidest things ever conceived and later repeated by thousands in a chant.

If any reader would like to explain how using the phrase "defund the police" didn't clearly show the direction things were headed and that yes "Houston, we have a problem" was occurring in flashing red lights, please advice.
