Universal background checks... really?

Mass shooters are rarely caught alive. Would you take their lifeless corpse and bury I in a prison yard?

As I pointed out in my thread in the CDZ on my plan....you have two problems...actual criminals, and mass public shooters...

Mass public shootings in 2018..... 12. Number killed, 93.

Actual criminals using illegal guns to murder mostly other criminals...2017..... 10,982 gun murders..

Do you see the difference and which problem is actually bigger?

You stop mass shooters differently than regular criminals.....

1) end gun free zones...their primary targets

2) stop romanticing them and encouraging copycats by refusing to put out details in the press...refer to all future mass shooters as losers in any police statements.

3) improve family awareness of dangerously mentally ill people and help them get the help they need...

That is how you stop mass shooters...

Nine killed, over 20 wounded in less than 45 seconds. Could the weapon be factored in when considering these facts?

Fire is deadlier than guns......more killed in this fire than shot at Vegas.....and it didn't take a 1,000 dollar rifle to do it...

Well that's easy.

Lock up all black people. Gun violence reduced.

There is no way to measure how many lives were saved by the waiting period, the current insufficient background checks, etc…. We should at least try something instead of being resigned to shrugging our shoulders at the massacres.

Ah, so you don't know if anything you suggest would stop anything, but you're determined to do "something".

I suspect it will. I do know the current situation is unacceptable unless you crave violence

Then tell the democrats to stop letting repeat gun offenders, the ones doing 99% of the killing, out of jail and out of prison...

Do you accept the fact that democrats keep letting repeat gun offenders out of jail on bond and out of prison with short sentences?

No. Republicans ran the state houses in the majority of states for several years. It is a given that the same electorate is electing the judges where they are elected; and the GOP governor is appointing them in other cases more often than not.

As we’ve seen with the last 3 NRA produced blood baths; all in Red states with GOP governors; your analysis is as wrong as it is stupid.

Moron, the Pulse Night Club shooter went through 3 interviews with trained FBI interrogators who thought he might be a muslim terrorist.....they also did a complete, FBI background check and did an under cover approach with an agent....he also passed an extensive background check for his job and a background check for each gun he purchased....

You don't understand the issue.
Sounds like you are saying that banning the AR 15 is the only solution! :p

Which only means he'll use a different gun, or he'll get one through the black market. You people still don't grasp that in the end, no amount of laws will prevent anyone from doing anything. Otherwise, prohibition would have worked, and speakeasy would never have existed. And the drug war would have worked as well, and Heroin wouldn't be an issue today.

You dumb bans and crap, only makes law abiding citizens into criminals, with the unicorn and fairy ideology that your laws will magically make criminals into law abiding citizens.

It's stupid. It's evil. It never works. And you need to stop pushing it.

What the end of Prohibition brought was the laws and restrictions that most people wanted before the Prohibition that they were denied. Had the "Booze Merchants" been reasonable, the "Mob" wouldn't have been nearly as blood thirsty. After the Prohibition was finished, there were more regulations on drinking and manufacturing of booze than before Prohibition. If that is what you want on guns, keep going the way you are going.

But none of those laws and restrictions have done anything. You think we didn't have beer pong parties in high school? You think we didn't have dozens of fake IDs to buy beer before the school dance?

Over and over, none of those laws and restrictions did anything. Not one single thing.

So I get it, you can pass all the laws you want, but you need to grasp you are not helping anything.

Here in Colorado, there were over 600,000 background checks done in 2016. Out of that many, there were over 120 that failed. And 27 felons were sent back to prison for trying to buy guns in violation of their parole. That's 27 violent felons off the streets. How many lives were saved by that one?

In California, the Marine that went on the shooting spree with the handgun with extra mags but limited ammo used the only weapon he could get on short notice. He didn't do a lot of planning. But his Skill set was so high, the not only bagged 12 people (as in killed) wounded a bunch more and 2 of those dead were armed cops that were behind barriers. There were over 60 possible bodies he had to choose from. But the handgun was just much harder to use than the weapon his skill set was highest on. Imagine if he had brought an AR with 4 30 round Mags. He would have wiped out most of the Swat Teams sent in. That AR Ban saved lives that day. The poor cops walked into a real live combat situation and went against a combat hardened Pro. Not something they trained for and probably aren't paid enough.

Universal Background checks do work. As does a solid regulation on the AR. While it doesn't stop the mass shootings, it keeps the body count down. If that is all that is accomplished, then it DOES save lives.

BTW, Walmarts announcement is changing some of the hardened Gun Activists tune around here. This is a sold red area. What brought it on? The nutcase in Missouri that walzed into the Walmart right after the shooting in the Texas Walmart. The nutcase came in wearing an AR with extra ammo mags on an ammo belt. An Off Duty Firefighter CCW drew down on him right there in Walmart. It's a little hard to tell who the mass murders are and the nutcases that are showing off their "Rights". And who gets in trouble? The Firefighter. Now, Walmart will not allow ANY customer to carry guns inside their stores. You buy a gun, it's hand carried by the Management to your car. You fruitcakes won't even police your own. The Police Lt. that responded to the Missouri Nutcase said, "He's lucky to be alive". Does he lose his AR? No, the Firefighter loses his CCW License though.

We have a nice little law around here that says you can't have any firearms within 1000 feet of any schools. One Teen wearing a Raincoat was walking towards a Middle School. One of the Neighbors noted it was a sunny day and called the cops. He was surrounded by 6 really nervous adrenile pumping cops with drawn weapons. What they found under the Coat was his Daddy's AR and 4 30 round mags. He stated he was going for the new record. That made page 5 in very small print and was buried. He was 17. It never went to criminal court. He's in the state mental hospital right now and will be until at least to the age of 21 or longer. Another law that saved lives.

Just how many more of these do you need. You keep going and there will be even more laws passed. The harder you push, the more stringent the laws will be. Since you won't police your own kind, someone has to. And if you cause excessive laws to be passed, that affects me and that really pisses off me and others like me.

Here in Colorado, there were over 600,000 background checks done in 2016. Out of that many, there were over 120 that failed. And 27 felons were sent back to prison for trying to buy guns in violation of their parole. That's 27 violent felons off the streets. How many lives were saved by that one?

Citation please. I would like to read up on this.

I highly doubt that 27 felons really walked into a gun store, knowing they were going to do a background check, find out they were felons, and end up arrested. But could be wrong. I'd love to read up on that.

In California, the Marine that went on the shooting spree with the handgun with extra mags but limited ammo used the only weapon he could get on short notice. He didn't do a lot of planning. 1. Now image if everyone around that bar had been armed with a gun. He would have been shot before he could kill anyone.
Just a few years back, a guy ran into a church where a civilian with a conceal and carry, engaged the shooter the moment he fired a shot, and the shooter ran.

2. I've fired both rifles and handguns. To suggest a handgun is harder to use than a rifle, is ridiculous.

3. You are assuming that with a ban in place that a rifle will be harder to get. It won't. Again, in Australia where they have massive gun control laws, the criminals have setup smuggling rings stretching to China. Many reports suggest that it is easier to get a automatic rifle today in Australia, than it was before the gun laws made a smuggling ring profitable.

Again.... how many times do you people have to relearn the lesson. If laws, restrictions and bans ever worked.... then please explain the Heroin epidemic, and the prescription drug black market.

Millions of prescription drugs on black market

Why does that exist? Why are your endless laws not fixing it?

We have a nice little law around here that says you can't have any firearms within 1000 feet of any schools. One Teen wearing a Raincoat was walking towards a Middle School. garbage. That law didn't stop anything. The neighbor who called the police, saved the lives. The police doing police work saved lives.

It's not like if that law didn't exist, that the neighbor would have been like "No that's cool, go kill people", nor the police would have never shown up from the neighbor calling, and no they would not have told the teenager with the gun and ammo "There's no 1000 feet law, so go slaughter people".

This is stupidity. When you have make up crap, in order to suggest your laws work.... no sorry.

You know why we have mass shootings? You listed it right there. That's why we have mass shootings....

It never went to criminal court. He's in the state mental hospital right now

You just told me a guy openly intended to murder people, and he didn't even go to criminal court?

And then you sit there asking why we have mass shootings, and complain we need more laws?

The dude, according to YOUR OWN WORDS... openly said he intended to murder people, and he didn't even go to criminal court.

This is why we have mass shootings. I'd have that dude in prison for life.

Progressives want Background checks on all private sales. Why? Who pays for that? Paying for an right?
That is definitely unconstitutional and absolutely ridiculous.

Any type of waiting period on an right? I don’t think so, definitely unconstitutional and absolutely ridiculous.
No one should have to wait more than seconds to purchase their firearms.

Obviously universal background checks I have nothing to do with firearms… Like always... it’s always been about control.
The ******* spineless gun grabbers can pound sand... lol

Something need to be done. All these massacres that you supported need to be stop. All you want is to sell more arms and you don’t give a rats ass whatever happened to this country or these kids. People like you are part of the problem.

I’m not saying I’m taking your second amendments but for Christ sake. This got to stop.

One way or the other you will become instinct.
Lol
More frivolous gun control laws will not save a single soul...

Something need to be done. Or the system itself will do it for you.

Look at Walmart made a big move stop selling firearms and ammunition’s.

Next is to outlaw your business and you.
Lol
From my cold dead hands...

Every developed nation has people withmental health problems, violent video games and movies, depressed kids.

Only the US has the 2nd Amendment and a PAC dedicated to eliminating any restrictions on buying firearms.

So we have weekly mass shootings

If your point were correct you would not have to lie to make it. No "pac" is dedicated to removing any restrictions on purchases of guns. Flat out lie. The only purpose your lie here served was to spotlight your ignorance on the topic, as well as demonstrate that you are way to emotional to be taken seriously.

I have no problem with Universal Back Ground checks as long as the government makes it free for everyone who isn't a dealer. After all it is about safety not money right?

What is the difference between paying for a registration fee on a DMV and a background check? And don't give me this crap about one is a right and the other isn't. Both are a form of Taxation.

This is a lie, as there is no sense to the law whatsoever.
I agree, there is no sense to the current law where private sales are not subjected to a background check.
Look at you, deliberately misunderstanding my post.

Universal background checks are unenforceable, and so those already selling guns illegally will not be affected.
There no sense at all to be found in a law than cannot be enforced and will not achieve its states purpose.
Thus, there's no sense at all to be found in universal background checks.
The shooter looked to a legal means to purchase a gun...
None of this changes the fact there's no sense at all to be found in universal background checks, or the fact you failed - and utterly so - to address in any way the argument to that effect.

He failed a background check, that seems to have worked the first time. Though I think the NICS system probably has some holes to be patched. Anyway, it'd be nice if we didn't give criminals such an easy way to buy a gun from a law abiding citizen.

Oh, Fred, I failed my Background check. You got a weapon and some ammo and some mags I can borrow? Sure, Steve, help yourself. If Gun Owners don't police themselves who will?

I suspect it will not. Until you and those who think like you accept that you can't solve the problem by controlling an object and instead have to deal effectively with the people who are going to kill innocent people, there will be more and more violence and tragedy.

You would be the first one he killed. Rexall Rangers are the first to get killed. I have yet to meet a real live Hero.

why should gun shops have to go thru back ground checks for buyers and those selling at gun shows not have to do the same, with whom they are selling to?

It makes the Gun Shops background requirements useless, unless background checks are universal, imo.

How many times do you have to be told.....all gun sellers at gun shows have to do background checks.

Private property owners can sell their private property without a background check, they can do that in the parking lot, across the street or at a local Denny's.....

You don't know what you are talking about.....

Do you understand that criminals do not buy their guns at gun shows or from private sellers?
yep.

Gun show loophole is a political term in the United States referring to the sale of firearms by private sellers, including those done at gun shows, that do not meet federal background check requirements. This is dubbed the private sale exemption or "secondary market".

Whatever the cost, the seller pays for it, though it is added in to the price of the gun if they have any business savvy.

JUST LIKE WITH GUN SHOPS....

And it is not unconstitutional for gun shop requirement to do a background check before selling, so your theory of unconstitutionality for personal sales, fails, no?
