Sounds like you are saying that banning the AR 15 is the only solution!
Which only means he'll use a different gun, or he'll get one through the black market. You people still don't grasp that in the end, no amount of laws will prevent anyone from doing anything. Otherwise, prohibition would have worked, and speakeasy would never have existed. And the drug war would have worked as well, and Heroin wouldn't be an issue today.
You dumb bans and crap, only makes law abiding citizens into criminals, with the unicorn and fairy ideology that your laws will magically make criminals into law abiding citizens.
It's stupid. It's evil. It never works. And you need to stop pushing it.
What the end of Prohibition brought was the laws and restrictions that most people wanted before the Prohibition that they were denied. Had the "Booze Merchants" been reasonable, the "Mob" wouldn't have been nearly as blood thirsty. After the Prohibition was finished, there were more regulations on drinking and manufacturing of booze than before Prohibition. If that is what you want on guns, keep going the way you are going.
But none of those laws and restrictions have done anything. You think we didn't have beer pong parties in high school? You think we didn't have dozens of fake IDs to buy beer before the school dance?
Over and over, none of those laws and restrictions did anything. Not one single thing.
So I get it, you can pass all the laws you want, but you need to grasp you are not helping anything.
Here in Colorado, there were over 600,000 background checks done in 2016. Out of that many, there were over 120 that failed. And 27 felons were sent back to prison for trying to buy guns in violation of their parole. That's 27 violent felons off the streets. How many lives were saved by that one?
In California, the Marine that went on the shooting spree with the handgun with extra mags but limited ammo used the only weapon he could get on short notice. He didn't do a lot of planning. But his Skill set was so high, the not only bagged 12 people (as in killed) wounded a bunch more and 2 of those dead were armed cops that were behind barriers. There were over 60 possible bodies he had to choose from. But the handgun was just much harder to use than the weapon his skill set was highest on. Imagine if he had brought an AR with 4 30 round Mags. He would have wiped out most of the Swat Teams sent in. That AR Ban saved lives that day. The poor cops walked into a real live combat situation and went against a combat hardened Pro. Not something they trained for and probably aren't paid enough.
Universal Background checks do work. As does a solid regulation on the AR. While it doesn't stop the mass shootings, it keeps the body count down. If that is all that is accomplished, then it DOES save lives.
BTW, Walmarts announcement is changing some of the hardened Gun Activists tune around here. This is a sold red area. What brought it on? The nutcase in Missouri that walzed into the Walmart right after the shooting in the Texas Walmart. The nutcase came in wearing an AR with extra ammo mags on an ammo belt. An Off Duty Firefighter CCW drew down on him right there in Walmart. It's a little hard to tell who the mass murders are and the nutcases that are showing off their "Rights". And who gets in trouble? The Firefighter. Now, Walmart will not allow ANY customer to carry guns inside their stores. You buy a gun, it's hand carried by the Management to your car. You fruitcakes won't even police your own. The Police Lt. that responded to the Missouri Nutcase said, "He's lucky to be alive". Does he lose his AR? No, the Firefighter loses his CCW License though.
We have a nice little law around here that says you can't have any firearms within 1000 feet of any schools. One Teen wearing a Raincoat was walking towards a Middle School. One of the Neighbors noted it was a sunny day and called the cops. He was surrounded by 6 really nervous adrenile pumping cops with drawn weapons. What they found under the Coat was his Daddy's AR and 4 30 round mags. He stated he was going for the new record. That made page 5 in very small print and was buried. He was 17. It never went to criminal court. He's in the state mental hospital right now and will be until at least to the age of 21 or longer. Another law that saved lives.
Just how many more of these do you need. You keep going and there will be even more laws passed. The harder you push, the more stringent the laws will be. Since you won't police your own kind, someone has to. And if you cause excessive laws to be passed, that affects me and that really pisses off me and others like me.

Citation please. I would like to read up on this.
I highly doubt that 27 felons really walked into a gun store, knowing they were going to do a background check, find out they were felons, and end up arrested. But could be wrong. I'd love to read up on that.

1. Now image if everyone around that bar had been armed with a gun. He would have been shot before he could kill anyone.
Just a few years back, a guy ran into a church where a civilian with a conceal and carry, engaged the shooter the moment he fired a shot, and the shooter ran.
2. I've fired both rifles and handguns. To suggest a handgun is harder to use than a rifle, is ridiculous.
3. You are assuming that with a ban in place that a rifle will be harder to get. It won't. Again, in Australia where they have massive gun control laws, the criminals have setup smuggling rings stretching to China. Many reports suggest that it is easier to get a automatic rifle today in Australia, than it was before the gun laws made a smuggling ring profitable.
Again.... how many times do you people have to relearn the lesson. If laws, restrictions and bans ever worked.... then please explain the Heroin epidemic, and the prescription drug black market.
Millions of prescription drugs on black market
Why does that exist? Why are your endless laws not fixing it?

garbage. That law didn't stop anything. The neighbor who called the police, saved the lives. The police doing police work saved lives.
It's not like if that law didn't exist, that the neighbor would have been like "No that's cool, go kill people", nor the police would have never shown up from the neighbor calling, and no they would not have told the teenager with the gun and ammo "There's no 1000 feet law, so go slaughter people".
This is stupidity. When you have make up crap, in order to suggest your laws work.... no sorry.
You know why we have mass shootings? You listed it right there. That's why we have mass shootings....
It never went to criminal court. He's in the state mental hospital right now
You just told me a guy openly intended to murder people, and he didn't even go to criminal court?
And then you sit there asking why we have mass shootings, and complain we need more laws?
The dude, according to YOUR OWN WORDS... openly said he intended to murder people, and he didn't even go to criminal court.
This is why we have mass shootings. I'd have that dude in prison for life.
