China and the Soviet Union never put troops in the field. They sent weapons. We had the better equipment, men and numbers, but our government didn't let us win. I've been watching to a minor degree the casualty issue.....you know KIA, WIA, MIA.... of this conflict. I've read Ukrainian reports, a few Russian reports, and reports from the New York Times, LA Times, and BellingCat. All must be taken with the proverbial 'grain-of-salt'.

I had read nothing about 'hundreds' going down in a shot-down plane.
And then I read the link, which said this:

China had been trying to conqueror Vietnam for over 1000 years, and never succeeded.
That is because the Vietnamese never give up.
So there was never any way for the US to win in Vietnam.
We did not understand guerrilla warfare.
Ho Chi Minh was a national hero, who liberate Vietnam from the hated French.
