The United States has nearly finished setting up an air base in Kurdish-controlled northern Syria and was proceeding with the construction of a second base for dual military and civilian use, a Kurdish website said on Sunday.

The Erbil-based news website BasNews, quoting a military source in the Kurdish-backed Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), said most of the work on a runway in the oil town of Rmeilan in Hasaka was complete while a new air base southeast of Kobani, straddling the Turkish border, was being constructed.

It has been known that American special forces have been operating in Syria for a while. But that the US is building air bases in Syria (in the Kurdish lands) is stunning news for me. I think there are a couple of conclusions which can be made out of that: one should forget about Syria as a whole state; and the Kurds are becoming more and more important for the US’ foreign policy in the region and that fact will inevitably lead to worsening relations with Turkey.

Obama's plan obviously is to start WWIII, the Neo-Conservative Psychopaths who have pulled the strings for more than a decade now, WWIII has always been their eventually goal....they're completely insane.

They're hoping it seems to start WWII this year, failing that either Ted Cruz or Hillary will be the next Puppet to achieve it for them.

This is why they're so terrified of The Donald, this is why The Donald needs to win.

Watch the Obama apologists - Leftists - now hilariously defend the Neo-Conservatives.

Erdogan is busy to trade with ISIS, supply Al-Qaeda and fight the Kurds. Turkey has repeatedly shelled the Syrian Kurds while an anti-Kurdish campaign runs in Turkey.

The regime is also eliminating opposition media. After the regime stormed two TV-channels last year, the largest Turkish newspaper has been taken over by force days ago.

The US cannot be on both sides much longer.

It may well be true, but considering its geographical location, its military potential, and its possible role in halting the flows of immigrants from the Middle East, Turkey will be on the list of America’s allies in the nearest future. The Kurds will be something like a tool to put pressure on the Turkish government.

Turkey supports the terrorist groups in Syria and therefor is cause of the refugee crisis and not solution.

The cause of the refuge crisis is the war in Syria. Stop the active fighting and you will see the number of refugees steadily lowering. It is impossible to stop the fighting without Turkish involvement. You can name them “supporters of terrorism” or other words, but that doesn’t cancel this simple fact.

Also, I have heard that a great number of people from Afghanistan, other countries of the ME, and North Africa are fleeing into Europe via Turkey without documents, many of them pretending to be from Syria. Some say that this people vastly outnumber those from Syria itself. Without Turkish involvement it is impossible to stop them.

So stupid. I don't think this country is capable of learning any lessons.

How to stop the active fighting, when those calling for peace are those who support the various groups? Without this support, the war would have ended long ago. This is a simple fact.

Turkish PM on February 2016:
"“We will return our historic debt. At one time, our brothers from Aleppo defended our cities of Sanliurfa, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, now we will defend the heroic Aleppo. All of Turkey stands behind its defenders,” Davutoglu said at the meeting of the Party of Justice and Development parliamentary faction, which he heads."
Syria invasion plan? Turkey will defend its ‘Aleppo brothers,’ says PM Davutoglu

Yes, many flee their countries. In Iraq, fighting is ongoing, in Afghanistan, the Taliban are in the offensive. But most of this refugees aren´t real refugees. Turkey is a save country for refugees to stay in, there is no need to travel to Germany in order to escape fighting. The refugee crisis should be a signal to the world: Europe is a weak continent that cannot deal with some refugees. What if those refugees were a hostile army?
This is not about Turkey. Merkel sucked all those refugees in like a sponge and told the world that she knows no limits leading the refugees through other European countries that now have to deal with the mess. When the refugees are in Germany, they are so many that they are are put up in old factories, school gyms, etc, where they neither have adequate housing nor privacy and girls and women are getting abused in forced into prostitution, while media report about some right-wing extremists throwing stones.

Strange conclusion. Usually a truce is agreed by those who are taking part in the war. It is senseless to strike a deal with one who doesn’t have influence on the warring groups.

Though the article is only a month old, it is already outdated. After the truce has been signed, the Turkish invasion isn’t on the table now.

Exactly. And that is why NATO still exists.

You can blame Merkel for everything, but now the refugee crisis exists and the EU must do something, and without Turkey it can do not much. Turkey understands this very clearly and raises the stakes during negotiations with the EU.

The truce applies only for some small ares. However, Turkey has indeed influence on the war as it is where terrorist invasions were launched from. Terrorists are equipped and trained in Turkey. Turkey and Saudi Arabia want to invade Syria but it is still unclear if they dare to.

Exactly. And that is why NATO still exists.
The NATO drove Europe into the wars on Syria, Libya and Ukraine. Without order from Washington, no European politician would have had the idea to overthrow governments. Remember, the western term was "Assad must go" and not "End the war".

End gets more cash. More cash they can use to fuel the war.
Turkey FINALLY agrees to block migrants as EU bosses pledge BILLIONS more to country

Sounds like another Nobel Peace Prize coming!
