Well I'm sure Hillary will have the slain officer's wife and perhaps mother on the campaign trail with her to highlight the atrocity. Probably won't be on the same day she's praising the killer's mother though if he hopefully doesn't survive his wounds.

SDPD gang officer killed, another wounded; suspect arrested

The chief, speaking at 3 a.m. outside Scripps Mercy Hospital, said the two officers, both members of the department's gang unit, reported that they were making a stop shortly before 11 p.m. Almost immediately afterward, they called for assistance. Other officers in the area arrived quickly and found that both officers had been shot, Zimmerman said.

“Very shortly after they put out that they were making a stop, they called for emergency cover,” Zimmerman said. “Other officers were in the area. They arrived shortly on scene and found both of our officers suffering from gunshot wounds.”

The San Diego police chief has released the names of an officer who was killed in a shooting and a partner who was wounded late Thursday. Chief Shelley Zimmerman said Friday that the slain officer was 43-year-old Jonathan Deguzman, a 16-year veteran of the department with a wife and two young children. The wounded officer is 32-year-old Wade Irwin, a nine-year veteran who is married.

Police have surrounded a house that may hold a potential second suspect in the shooting, Zimmerman said.

She declined to name the first suspect, only saying he was a Hispanic male in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
