A Vox/Morning Consult survey found that “44% of white respondents nationwide scored as ‘high’ or ‘very high’ authoritarians”. There were authoritarian voters in both political parties, but “more than 65% of people who scored highest on the authoritarianism questions were GOP voters”. They asked respondents what made them fearful and found that they “most fear threats that come from abroad” but they also feared internal threats that they viewed as undermining the stability of the social hierarchy. These internal threats could be “in the form of rising diversity” or “any changes, political or economic, that disrupt social hierarchies” or were viewed as threatening authoritarian voters’ “status quo as they know it”.

Its a long and thoughtful article that attempts to explain trumps win in 2016. Its not complete as it doesnt mention low education standards but it is a thoughtful piece.

lol neo-fascist sexual deviants, most into sick S&M fetishes, whine about Trump again.

The least educated voters, blacks and latinos, the highest drop out rates, all vote mostly Democrat. lol another retarded claim by left wing deviants and sickos shot down with the greatest of ease.

'Long and thoughtful' means his lips were moving as he read it, and he never actually finished it.

I give the article Tommy didn't read a rating of 4 Goebbels.

Always funny to read how the American Taliban claims - i was going to say 'thinks' instead of claims, but they only parrot - we're authoritarian

That was an intentional omission tommy, it found that some in the study had their IQ determined by how many times they could spell the word "racist" correctly before spelling it wrong then counting up the number of correct spellings to determine IQ...average IQ on that scale was 89 but several did break 100...for some reason they saw no need to disclose that.

The article is typical bullshit from the Guardian, a rag that our government identified as a KGB propaganda outlet way back in the 1980s.

And the reason that you posted the Guardian's opinion rather than forming your own is obviously because you lack the ability to think independently. You're a typical leftist moron.

Go drink some more grape kool-aid, dumbass.

These are people who adore and idolize a brash, arrogant, pugilistic nationalist who promises to save the country by ridding it of millions of undesirables.

They cheer when he eliminates people he perceives as enemies, anyone who steps out of line. They even like it when he kneecaps the freaking CDC in the middle of a disease crisis.

Ring any bells, over there in Europe? Trumpism is arrogant, bigoted, paranoid authoritarianism. The world has seen it before. We didn't learn.

I think that the low intellectual capacity of trumpers on this forum validates the article.
You are all motivated by fear and hatred and any conman who confirms that is treated like a God.
You are motivated for living for today. With an anything goes civilization. Believing that future Tommy living the same tomorrow, is guaranteed. Wealth can be fleeting.

lol do cite where he said he was getting rid of anybody here legally. Stopping the entry of illegals isn't 'getting rid' of them; they have to already be here illegally to be gotten rid of. Getting rid of criminals is a good thing, except to Democrats like yourself.

Hugh Davis Graham's The Civil Rights Era has an excellent long essay on that very mentality, he named it 'Continuatarianism', the mystic belief that all progress will continually advance and so will economic growth, for ever. I'll type it out and maybe post a thread on it by next week, if anybody is interested. Otherwise I'll just post it at another board with far fewer trolls and shills spamming the joint.

From the OP Link:

Those authoritarian voters who would violate democratic norms to elect Trump won the election, of course. Trump’s authoritarian appeal combined American exceptionalism and ad populum to praise his followers as the best of America. Trump promised to love them and crush their shared enemies. He used “narrative laundering” to mainstream conspiracies about election rigging to cast doubt on the democratic process. In so doing Trump catered to his authoritarian followers’ fears and maintained his base of support. It shouldn’t surprise us now, then, to hear Trump making authoritarian appeals to rally his base, attack his opposition, and violate what he calls the phony democratic norms.

Well said.

There is a series on the BBC called "Rise of the Nazis". They even had angry young men marching with torches. Lots of parallels.

We have violent mobs murdering people in the streets, while one of the major parties is literally calling for DEFUND THE POLICE.

Perhaps those that fear internal threats, that undermine stability, are not so much "authoritarian" as "not barbarians who want to see it all burn like you fuckers".

THe assumptions of the researchers make their work garbage.

Those who "feared internal threats to stability" were correct to fear that, not "Authoritarian", you brainless fag.

Fear of murder mobs in the streets is called sanity, not being afraid of that, is called being a fucking moron.

The only information to be gleamed from that study, is that academia is tainted politically and part of the problem.

When he does any of those things please let us know.

The CDC knee capped itself by providing contradictory information over and over again, in the middle of a pandemic.

When he finally gets around to doing something even remotely totalitarian, could you please let us know....over 3 years now and we are still waiting.

Meanwhile, obama used the IRS to deny tax exempt status to conservative groups before an election. He went after journalists and spied on them..... He used the FBI, CIA, DOJ and STate department to get illegal FISA warrants to spy on Trump and his people and then rail roaded General Flynn and several other Trump associates with fake charges........

So...of the two, obama was the authoritarian, and we still have 4 months for Trump to actually do something authoritarian.....
