Trump Says "Real" Unemployment Rate is 42%

Yep just like the conspiracy that 93 million Americans of the working age are sitting idle because they choose to do so...............
Only the most stupid people believe that all 93 million want a job but have dropped out because they have given up.

The fact is only about 6 million of those 93 million want a job and less than 1 million have given up due to discouragement. The rest have health, transportation, child care, etc., problems.

The official unemployment rate was high for a few years under Reagan for the actions of Carter
No, the UE rate was in the middle 7% range and steady when St Ronnie took over. Reagan's policies then jacked it to 10.8%.
Again ignoring the Hyper inflation and results of Carter.
There was hyperinflation since Nixon's reelection, yet Carter was able to keep UE at the mid 7% level the whole time, and St Ronnie couldn't.
Remember Ford's Whip Inflation Now "WIN" buttons, or are you too young?

I remember when the Bush Administration claimed to have "full employment" using the same methodology that "O" uses and the participation rate wasn't even close to when Clinton was in office. The conservatives sang praise to Bush from the highest mountains.
Funny how things change when the president is from the opposing party! Hypocrisy much?

Math challenged?

5% unemployment with a 66.4% participation rate
versus
5% unemployment and a 62.6% participation rate.

which one is better??

PS_ the participation rate under clinton was never higher than 67.2

Actually in April 2000 Clinton had a 67.3% LPR and a 3.8% UE rate

I felt the same way when Reagan was president. After 26 weeks of unemployment, you no longer existed.
And the labor participation rate did what under Reagan......................The official unemployment rate was high for a few years under Reagan for the actions of Carter and hyper inflation....................The jobs did turn around.............The participation rate may be a different matter on how the Gov't calculates the rates..............

Bottom line....................more go into poverty now..............the rate is much higher than reported now.............and companies are hauling ass to foreign lands under the trade deals................Medium wage drops added to the list..............As a result of the off shoring of jobs.

Why is the rate much higher than reported now? Are they figuring it a different way? How are they figuring it differently?

Lol, like Carter caused inflation.

PLEASE... I voted for Carter and regretted it almost immediately! It was as other idiots did as I was totally uninformed in response to Nixon.
I was so f...king dumb ! So I lived through Carter's inane "As with the Cardigan Sweater Speech, President Carter had hoped to call Americans to action" micro management! DUMB!!!
#8: How Carter Lectured, Not Led (Top 10 Mistakes by U.S. Presidents) | Britannica Blog
Carter's Misery Index!
The misery index was initiated by economist Arthur Okun, an adviser to President Lyndon Johnson in the 1960's.
It is simply the unemployment rate added to the inflation rate.
The misery index under President Jimmy Carter averaged 16.26, with a high of 20.76 in 1980.
Then President Ronald Reagan took over the index was 17.97, his highest.
If any president had an excuse to blame the previous administration, Reagan did. Instead the misery index declined to 9.57 at the end of 1988.... a 9.61 points reduction or 53% reduction!!!
So PLEASE don't make any statement about Reagan JACKING UNEMPLOYMENT you dumb f..k!

micro-managment by Carter!!!

INFLATION!!!
NOTE under dummy CARTER it was at the beginning:5.2% End of 4 years: 11.8%
Reagan beginning 11.8% End of 8 years...4.7%
FACTS have a way of getting in idiots ways!!!

Wait a second, Democrat tell us that Food Stamps and unemployment are signs of a healthy growing economy, it might be bad if people came off unemployment

Turn off Rush, take a laxative and you may feel better (or at least you won't come off as a complete idiot.)

Hey Zander, I think you may be missing my point.
When W & the gang were claiming"full employment", the participation rate was at 66.4 and the unemployment rate was 4.2. There were no claims of "full employment" when the unemployment rate was a 4% and the participation rate was at 67.2 ala Clinton.
Bush got bashed by the left for using the same methodology that other presidents used and how part-time workers were used with the numbers. However, when conservatives were claiming "full employment" they were using the same approach that Obama used, which they are now criticizing Obama using.
Smoke & mirrors, smoke & mirrors.

Even using the few figures he cites, I'm trying really hard to determine how he arrives at the idea that 134 million people are out of work.

Don’t forget in the meantime we have a real unemployment rate that’s probably 21%. It’s not 6. I’s not 5.2 and 5.5. Our real unemployment rate–in fact, I saw a chart the other day, our real unemployment–because you have ninety million people that aren’t working. Ninety-three million to be exact.

If you start adding it up, our real unemployment rate is 42%.

Donald Trump Explains All
He is counting everyone in the country from the new born to the oldest to the lame and crazy, the right wing lazy, as eligible for employment.

This is never a winning argument for the far right.

The far right wants to turn these into slaves for the corporations so we can compete as ******* against south Asia.

I'd suggest tariffing the shit out of imports and doing away with h1b's to allow our people to be paid right.

Retirement does not affect the labor participation rate. Labor participation are those people who would like to participate, but can't.
Further proof that the Right are the NO-Information Voters.
Thank you.
Why do you leftist like shipping in immigrants to take American jobs? Sounds anti-American to me
What exactly does that have to do with your fellow wing-nut traveller lying about retirees having no effect on the LPR, other than deflecting from their lie, of course?

Kids getting out of college don't have jobs, they ship in Indians for that. non college graduates don't have jobs, skilled trades are being taken over by immigrants, they are putting American contractors out of business. Retires certainly aren't the reason the labor participation rate is what it is

Now all of the trump supporters will find ways to support his ridiculous claim. LOL.

Its probably even higher. Think of all those toddlers and primary school kids who are refusing to go out and support themselves with gainful employment. Or worse....

.....can't find work.

Most unemployment numbers don't include those people because they are being supported by someone so they have no need to work. Democrats are not included for the same reason.

The post I replied to was claiming it was a "conspiracy" that the 93 million were sitting idle "because they want to." I pointed out it was no conspiracy and that all but 6 million were, in fact, sitting out because they want to. So it was your fellow wing-nut traveler "eagle" who was claiming they all wanted jobs.

It's amazing the lies the left believes to support Socialism. Even when it hurts them they lie to defend socialism.
