Trump says absentee ballots and mail-in ballots are different (Politifact says that's FALSE)

Absentee voting and mail-in voting is exactly the same thing. Trump is making excuses for his loss before the first mail-in ballot is counted. If anyone is contributing to any fraud it is Trump himself who is in the process of defunding the post office of needed funds to keep up with the expected demand for mail-in ballots. It is apparent Trump will do anything to cheat in the upcoming election.
Absentee voting means voters request ballots.
All mail-in voting means ballots are automatically sent to all registered voters, see the difference?
That's not true in every state. My state, for example, is sending me mail-in ballots because I requested them.
Correct. The linked article shows what each state is doing.
My point is that the prior statement "Absentee voting and mail-in voting is exactly the same thing." is WRONG.
The only difference is a reason is needed for absentee ballots while no reason is needed for vote-by-mail ballots. That's a distinction without a difference.
Not exactly right.
1. Absentee ballots are REQUESTED by current voters. All other current voters vote in-person. Very little chance for fraud.
2. Mail-in voting means all registered voters are sent ballots automatically. Typically voter rolls are very outdated with many errors, so void ballots are flying all over the place, that are easy to "harvest" and send back in. Absentee is better.
You're wrong. It's true a few states send vote-by-mail ballots to all registered voters, but many require voters request them. Such as my state...

I'm not wrong. There is a difference between requesting "absentee ballots" and "All mail-in voting". Here is the link again:

You are right that FL is a "no excuse" absentee ballot state. You request a ballot.
The ballots are not automatically sent to you and your dead neighbors.
Here is my prior post that is still correct:
1. Absentee ballots are REQUESTED by current voters. All other current voters vote in-person. Very little chance for fraud.

You're still wrong. mail-in voting does not mean all registered voters are automatically sent a ballot. As I showed you, Florida is an example. And that's just one state. Most states are like Florida...
We agree, but the terms we're using are the issue.
What I call "mail-in voting" is actually called "automatic" in your meme.
What I call "absentee voting" is what your meme calls "excuse required" or "no excuse required"

Trump opposes "automatic" mail-ins since the voter rolls are generally inaccurate. Just watch if Russia or China or someone else hacks them. Dogs, cats, and dead people generally can get ballots.

Trump supports all "absentee voting" since a real voter requests a real ballot.
LOL

And you're still wrong. A "mail-in" ballot is simply an absentee ballot which does not require a reason for voting by mail. It has nothing to do with how the state distributes such ballots.
    • Mail-in ballot – Any qualified voter may apply for a mail-in ballot. You may simply request this ballot without a reason.
    • Absentee ballot – If you plan to be out of the municipality on election day or if you have a disability or illness, you should request this ballot type, which still requires you to list a reason for your ballot.

Your meme also has "automatic" which is the only balloting type Trump objects to. So why did you omit "automatic"?
I omitted nothing. I copied and pasted the descriptions of mail-in ballots. Again, distribution is a separate discussion as mail-in ballots can be distributed automatically or on request, depending on the state.

I also didn't post a meme. So you're wrong about that too. :eusa_doh:
Read your "meme or snip" again please, the 3 types are listed under "Absentee Ballot Request Laws by State" so all (3) types are mail-in "absentee ballots" as opposed to voting in-person.

The only difference is how the ballots are sent out, either" automatically, or by request no excuse needed, or by request with a valid excuse needed.

Politifact is known for polishing Democrat knobs...

Absentees are for those who are away and can not vote in person, not for an excuse for socialist pu$$ies who riot together by the thousands then claim they are too scared and fragile to wait in a peaceful line to vote in person....an excuse to facilitate massive mail-in voter fraud.

How about everyone put on their big boy pants and be honest for 10 seconds to acknowledge the truth that the only snowball-chance-in-hell Joe 'Dementia-suffering, pu$$y-grabbing-confessed extortionist' Biden has of winning is by record-setting mass mail-in voter fraud.

Whether you publicly admit it or not, deep down you all know its true....

You're arguing the wrong issue. No one gives a fuck about FL, there are 50 states. The issue is whether or not mail-in or absentee votes are legitimate of rife with fraud as Trump claims. Trump only objects to the "automatic" absentee ballots, not the other two types.

What were you thinking the argument is over??

Reactions: kaz
In Florida, for instance, where Trump is registered to vote, the term "absentee" isn't even in the law. They're all call vote-at-home" and everyone can vote by mail even if they live in a different state.
Trump lied about the reason for him voting by mail being that he's in DC. The reason is because everyone in Florida can vote by mail if they wish.

Trump also lied about "absentee" ballots being processed differently and more safely than "mail" ballots.
It's all the same shit.

In 2016, for instance, the Florida Legislature unanimously voted to change the phrase "absentee" to "vote-by-mail," in order to ease confusion among voters who mistakenly believed that they had to be away from home to request a ballot by mail. Some election advocates now use the term "vote at home," because ballots in some states can be dropped off in person at designated lockboxes rather than mailed.

So when Trump says he’s an absentee voter in Florida because he’s "at the White House," that’s not accurate. It doesn’t matter where he is; Trump, like any other registered Florida voter, can cast a ballot without going to an in-person site.

President Trump says different things are different.

Leftist media:

WHAAAAAAAAAAA!

How are the elections going in New York? Wasn't there an all mail in election there recently? I hear there have been no results after three weeks. People have said trying to pull off an all mail in election in so short of time is guaranteed disaster? Why would anyone expect it to be successful?

What makes "politifact" the judge of political speech? Politifact is a non profit left wing propaganda source sponsored by the Florida based left wing Tampa Times (owned by the left wing Poynter Institute) and funded by the usual suspects like Google, Ebay and Democrats for Justice.

I suppose we now know why Donald Trump has named a loyal cronie to be Postmaster General:

Make sure your ballot is sent in on time, and maybe spent a few dollars to have a return receipt card given trump has once again added to the swamp.

Politifact slipped in the magic word "requested" to do a false comparison. There are (3) types of mail-in ballots:
1. No request needed, the state send out ballots to all registered voters
CO, HI, OR, UT WA
2. Voters request ballots but no excuse for absentee voting is needed:
(the other 28 states)
3. Voters request mail-in ballots AND an excuse IS NEEDED:
AL, AR, CT, DE, IN, KY, LA, MA, MI, MO, NH, NY, RI, SC, TN, TX, WV

Mail in ballots require requests in most states, which is contrary to what he claimed, otherwise known as a lie. Why would he all of a sudden have a problem with the remaining 5 states who have been doing mail voting for years?

The fact is, many States are scrapping the request requirement using Covid as an excuse. If you can safely stand in line at the grocery store, you can stand in line at the polls.

.
Which states are scrapping the request requirement?

CA is sending ballots to all registered voters, GA is sending ballot requests to all registered voters and the list goes on. Here's a link that describes procedures in each State. The commies in TX sued to get ballots sent to all registered voters and lost in court, absentee ballots will have to be requested.

.
Fantastic article, thank you.

California is legit.
Sending applications is miles different than sending ballots because you still have to apply to get the ballot.
The lawsuit in Texas wasn’t about sending ballots, it was whether the “illness or disability” restriction to vote absentee applied to people not wanting to get COVID. The court’s reply was “not exactly by maybe, we will let you decide” oh and if you decide wrong you may go to jail.

So long as voters have to actually request ballots be sent to a verifiable address, and thballot is signed ..... it can be audited just taxes. Cull the dead from the rolls, no problem..

It's different when people just hand out ballots to people othe street

We do it easier here.

If a person doesn't vote in two consecutive elections, they are dropped from the voting roll.

It keeps the information up to date and encourages people to keep voting.

2. Mail-in voting means all registered voters are sent ballots automatically. Typically voter rolls are very outdated with many errors, so void ballots are flying all over the place, that are easy to "harvest" and send back in. Absentee is better.

LOLOL

This is getting to be hysterical.

You're still wrong. As I showed you, Florida has "mail-in" ballots, not absentee ballots. And Florida does not distribute ballots to registered voters unless they request one. And Florida is just one of dozens of states on the map I posted which do that. So, no, the only difference isn't distribution. Again, the difference is whether or not a reason need be provided for voting by mail as opposed to voting in person.

The argument is that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. You simply keep regurgitating wrong statements in every post. As far as Florida, that's just one state but the map i showed you indicates that most states do the same thing as Florida. There's only 5 states automatically sending out ballots to all registered voters.

"The issue is whether or not mail-in or absentee votes are legitimate of rife with fraud as Trump claims."

Some of those states have been mailing out ballots to all registered voters for years now. Show me where there was voter fraud resulting from it....

The number is up to 7 now and how about you show they were effectively looking for fraud.

Dumbfuck, 4 of the 5 states that have done this in past elections, complied with Impeached Trump's witch hunt for a popular vote victory. Voter fraud was looked for in those states. The 5th state, thst was going to comply when the investigation was called off, was a Republican-lean state.

So now we can chalk this up to you twinks can't find and voter fraud stemming from mass mailing of ballots.

How many people registered their dogs and cats to vote? How many dead and/or moved people get ballots? I prefer that ballots need to be requested before sending.

It's actually pretty simple and Trump has explained it to you many times. He's against simply mailing out millions of ballots that no one requested and could go anywhere and be mailed in by anyone.

How stupid are you? What about that don't you understand?

Democrats are just the flat out dumbest people. You not only can't refute a point, you can't even grasp one

What makes "politifact" the judge of political speech? Politifact is a non profit left wing propaganda source sponsored by the Florida based left wing Tampa Times (owned by the left wing Poynter Institute) and funded by the usual suspects like Google, Ebay and Democrats for Justice.

Politifact determines whether a point meets Democrat talking points or not

The only difference is how the ballots are sent out, either" automatically, or by request no excuse needed, or by request with a valid excuse needed.

The argument is that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. You simply keep regurgitating wrong statements in every post. As far as Florida, that's just one state but the map i showed you indicates that most states do the same thing as Florida. There's only 5 states automatically sending out ballots to all registered voters.

"The issue is whether or not mail-in or absentee votes are legitimate of rife with fraud as Trump claims."

Some of those states have been mailing out ballots to all registered voters for years now. Show me where there was voter fraud resulting from it....
How many people registered their dogs and cats to vote? How many dead and/or moved people get ballots? I prefer that ballots need to be requested before sending.
YOU dumb shit, apparently you did not read the link you posted to. The article was not about pets receiving ballots but certain voters having their pets help cast their vote. It was not a political story but a light-hearted feature.

As I have said before most Trumpers have the reading comprehension of a 1st grader. All you guys have are lies when it comes to mail-in voting.
