In Florida, for instance, where Trump is registered to vote, the term "absentee" isn't even in the law. They're all call vote-at-home" and everyone can vote by mail even if they live in a different state.
Trump lied about the reason for him voting by mail being that he's in DC. The reason is because everyone in Florida can vote by mail if they wish.

Trump also lied about "absentee" ballots being processed differently and more safely than "mail" ballots.
It's all the same shit.

In 2016, for instance, the Florida Legislature unanimously voted to change the phrase "absentee" to "vote-by-mail," in order to ease confusion among voters who mistakenly believed that they had to be away from home to request a ballot by mail. Some election advocates now use the term "vote at home," because ballots in some states can be dropped off in person at designated lockboxes rather than mailed.

So when Trump says he’s an absentee voter in Florida because he’s "at the White House," that’s not accurate. It doesn’t matter where he is; Trump, like any other registered Florida voter, can cast a ballot without going to an in-person site.

Politifact slipped in the magic word "requested" to do a false comparison. There are (3) types of mail-in ballots:
1. No request needed, the state send out ballots to all registered voters
CO, HI, OR, UT WA
2. Voters request ballots but no excuse for absentee voting is needed:
(the other 28 states)
3. Voters request mail-in ballots AND an excuse IS NEEDED:
AL, AR, CT, DE, IN, KY, LA, MA, MI, MO, NH, NY, RI, SC, TN, TX, WV

Mail in ballots require requests in most states, which is contrary to what he claimed, otherwise known as a lie. Why would he all of a sudden have a problem with the remaining 5 states who have been doing mail voting for years?

The only time I’ve ever used an absentee ballot was while I was in college, 100 miles from home with no car. Honestly, there are very few situations beyond college students, the permanently disabled, and military members where any sort of mail-in ballot should even be allowed.

If it’s not important enough for you to find a way to the polls, you’re not the person I want voting to begin with.

I actually agree with you on this one.
1. Either Trump fears that the "no excuse" states will have tons of manufactured requests from illegitimate voter fraud mills? People just going thru the phone book or obits looking for votes to steal? Will blue states be super strict when sending out ballots, or do pets and illegals get to vote too?
2. Or, Trump sees the problems counting votes like in Iowa during the dem primary, or in NY where mail-in voter fraud is "in-progress".
3. Only CO looks to be flippable with a little voter fraud. The others look solid blur/red.
CO, HI, OR, UT WA

No it's not all the same shit. An absentee ballot has to be requested by the voter and are sent to a VERIFIED ADDRESS. Many States are mailing ballots to all registered voters, to their LAST KNOWN ADDRESS, many of which have moved since the last election. Then you have places like LA CA that have 112% of voting aged citizens registered to vote. Where are those ballots for non-existent voters going and will they be cast? There's just too large of an opportunity for fraud in situations like in LA for there to be any confidence in the election results. But hey, you commies think the ends justify the means, RIGHT? The integrity of the vote is no concern of yours.

Nope. Texas won't even relax their restriction on having an excuse to get an absentee ballot. No one in Texas is scrapping the requirement to request ballots. For crying out loud, Republicans control the legislature and governor, so even if they did scrap the requirement, it'd be coming from Republicans.

CA is sending ballots to all registered voters, GA is sending ballot requests to all registered voters and the list goes on. Here's a link that describes procedures in each State. The commies in TX sued to get ballots sent to all registered voters and lost in court, absentee ballots will have to be requested.

They are the same thing. A person isn't going to a voting place to vote, they do it at home.

My state is 100% mail in ballot.

There's no problem with it.

The only reason why trump and his followers don't want wide spread mail in voting is because all the vote suppression the republicans do can't be done with mail in voting

Can't deny someone to vote, can't challenge someone ability to vote, can't close a voting place, can't move a voting place to where people can't get to, can't put broken or just one or two voting machines in, can't cause lines that take hours to vote.

If people mail in vote, more people will vote which will result in republicans losing.

The only way a republican can win an election in a lot of America is by cheating and suppressing the vote.

The fact is, many States are scrapping the request requirement using Covid as an excuse. If you can safely stand in line at the grocery store, you can stand in line at the polls.

Which states are scrapping the request requirement?

CA is sending ballots to all registered voters, GA is sending ballot requests to all registered voters and the list goes on. Here's a link that describes procedures in each State. The commies in TX sued to get ballots sent to all registered voters and lost in court, absentee ballots will have to be requested.

Fantastic article, thank you.

California is legit.
Sending applications is miles different than sending ballots because you still have to apply to get the ballot.
The lawsuit in Texas wasn’t about sending ballots, it was whether the “illness or disability” restriction to vote absentee applied to people not wanting to get COVID. The court’s reply was “not exactly by maybe, we will let you decide” oh and if you decide wrong you may go to jail.

Exactly how does your State verify who lives at the addresses they mail ballots to. How do they track people who have moved out of State or even to another city?

So what's to stop people who just moved into a house from completing applications for the former resident?
