Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, head of the Las Vegas police, said upon the release of the final report in August that Paddock’s gambling losses may have been a factor;
his bank accounts dwindledfrom $2.1 million to $530,000 in the two years before the attack. But the sheriff said investigators weren’t able to “definitively answer the why.”
A
10-month probe by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department turned up no evidence of Paddock’s motives after interviews with his relatives,
girlfriend, ex-wife, doctor and casino hosts, as well as searches of his computers, phones and internet history. He left no manifesto or suicide note, wasn’t affiliated with a terrorist group and had
no mental-health diagnosis that might explain his actions.
he still had a half million in the bank ...its not a lot of money but its easier to turn that ship around and get back into the millions even after ya pissed some away
look at his target . country music fans are usually the patriotic right wing crowd
you could go either way with that
he wanted to "Start the war "
or
hated their guts
or maybe like they say he just wanted to go down in infamy ..the pathetic sick freak
The 500 grand in the bank was two years before the attack....what was it right before the attack?
One can lose a hell of a lot of money in 2 yrs....particularly a high roller...one who bets big amounts of money nightly.
The las vegas sheriff did not release those numbers...why?
He did say the shooters gambling losses were enough to force a life style change aka.....he was no longer going to be able to pretend to be a successful high roller...the guy was never a successful gambler...he played the slots...no way you can beat the slots....he just had deep pockets that covered his losses and he was able to fool people even his own family thought he was a 'successful gambler'
Thus the most obvious motive still remains as the most credible....a loser who realized his fantasy of being a successful high roller was no longer possible....thus he became suicidal.
As pointed out....Las Vegas has seen this many, many times....gamblers losing enough money to force them to change their life style...which some of them cannot cope with....thus they decide to kill themselves.
Another factor one should consider is what medications he was on......
‘It was a horror show’: Mass shooting leaves at least 59 dead, 527 wounded on Las Vegas Strip
Thus the combination of his gambling losses and the medication he was on, very likely pushed him over the edge.
Also his father being a rather notorious bank robber may have been a factor....he often bragged about his father the bank robber....maybe he was just trying to outdo his father...make a bigger anti-social splash and thus sure to be remembered and talked about ...a legacy of any kind for such nut cases is important...they do not want to be forgotten.
Not that many folks understand how destructive gambling is...destroyed many, many lives.....broken up families....caused many suicides.
Yet folks think of Vegas as a party town, a place to have fun and get a cheap vacation...it was even promoted for years as a family town.
Most know of its history of being run by the east coast mob...and they find it romantic...what is romantic about people willing to kill for money? Anyhow....thus Vegas found it's niche....and it flourished.
The mob was kicked out in the early 70's but what replaced them was not much better...the locals say the new bosses are even worse....greedy corporations...under whom the locals do not get the perks they got from the mob guys....now everything is run by computers....
These guys as in the hotel owners as in the gambling titans did not want anything to interfere with the image they had manufactured for vegas....and they feared with good reason that if it became common knowledge that this shooter killed all these people because of his gambling losses...it might lead to congressional investigations and more rules and oversight of las vegas...thus posing a serious problem to their profit margin.
Hence....they pressured the Sheriff not to dig too deep into the shooters motives....thus they did not release all the financial information on the shooter...information they had at their finger tips....and the media either out of collusion or stupidity or some combination thereof did not pursue the matter of the shooters gambling losses...they had claimed he was a successful gambler and they stuck to their story.
