Trump declares that the U.S. needs to have Greenland

I know that the US contributes the largest share to NATO, and we have neglected our military since the 1990s, which is something I've always criticized. But the US doesn't pay 5% either; it's always around 3.5%.

Like I said, NATO and the UN started as good ideas but really benefit EU countries more than us. Frankly, NATO and the UN is kind of a waste of our time, we are just being nice. And 3.5% of our economy is a whole lot more than 3.5% anywhere else.

I have a map somewhere of the USA showing the comparative economy of each state compared to another country but I can't find it. But here is a map showing the comparative firepower and military might of each state compared to other countries. Extrapolate from there.

If someone attacks the USA, they just must be tired of living.

This man never ceases to trip over his own feet. It truly is a sight to behold. He brings down an oppressive dictator and in 24 hours he turns around and makes us sound like we're going to go on a mission to conquer the world.

Actually, it just sounds like Trump is candidly confessing a desire to make all of North America an area that is hands off to China and Russia and wants to build a larger zone of avoidance to keep them all father the hell away from us.

He has gotten off to a good start in cracking down on Panama while reigning in the Caribbean, meanwhile, control of Canada and Greenland would also be nice, though I'm not sure how Trump intends to do this nor do I agree with his airing the issue publicly. IMO, he should be doing this behind closed doors to avoid embarrassing these countries into appearing to be under Trump's thumb.

I would think the real way to do this is by offering these countries something they want so badly that it is a deal too good for them to turn down.

Luckily, we got Texas on your map! :-) 💪
Seriously 3.5% of the US gross national product is enormous! But it's a good thing when the Western world sticks together and defends itself. I also don't believe the US is harmed by NATO. I don't understand this anti-NATO discussion of recent years, or who has an interest in it, besides Russia and China. Of course, NATO needs to be reformed. I also haven't heard a single US Army general who is against NATO or questions its purpose.

If I'm not mistaken, Germany has the largest single economy in Europe.

True, but there seems to be a lot to separate us these days, especially the way that Europe is just letting themselves be invaded and taken over by muslims.

It is a large expenditure among hundreds or thousands of other questionable expenditures. The argument can be made that we'd be far better off spending that money here at home.

Of course, NATO needs to be reformed. I also haven't heard a single US Army general who is against NATO or questions its purpose.
Well, NATO seems to be behind the Ukraine conflict in that years ago, we agreed to keep NATO off Russia's borders, but now many are trying to put NATO right up against Russia's border (a la Ukraine, et al, should they be accepted into NATO).

Yes, Germany has the largest single economy in Europe. Many countries naturally want the protection of NATO because they are afraid of Russia. But I have always been against expanding NATO so far to the east (just like the European Union!). But if NATO disappears, I don't think the USA will save money or benefit militarily. Only our adversaries will benefit.

I love German products, some of the best in the world. My mother's family was from Germany (actually Prussia), and I've enjoyed many fine products from knives made of Solingen steel, to many products made by Carl Zeiss, Zeiss Jena and related companies like Berliner Optics. I used to have a big telescope that used aerospace quality optics from the Soviet space program combined with tube and custom focuser parts made there in Germany. Half the world got rich trying to copy German craftsmanship then offering it at a lower price. Even our space program was pioneered by a German physicist brought over after WWII.

Well sure. Russia is HUGE. In effect, Europe copied the USA (United States) in building a larger conglomerate, the EU. In contrast, driving across the USA is pretty much like driving from London to Istanbul, Turkey.

But I have always been against expanding NATO so far to the east (just like the European Union!). But if NATO disappears, I don't think the USA will save money or benefit militarily. Only our adversaries will benefit.
NATO and the UN costs us a lot. We could use that money for other things, but I think we stay in both mainly because if the USA pulled out, enemies to the EU would see that as an opportunity to swoop in and do who knows what.

China operates by clandestine maneuvering, while Russia tends to operate by direct force. The good news is that Trump is pumping the brakes on both countries and serving both of them notice that we are watching them closely. Trump is working hard to settle the conflict in Ukraine and shut down Putin's westward expansion hopes while serving notice to China that they may not want to further expand their hold over Taiwan and the Philippines and South China Sea.

I was pondering this issue today and thought to myself, "just why is Denmak and Europe so strongly against America purchasing Greenland"? It is a small frozen place, the people there are not happy.with Denmark as.their monarchy Big Brother, they said themselves that Greenland is free to decide their own direction of statehood, it would be strategicaly more useful for the U.S, so why should they care? It makes one wonder...do they use it for their own secret surveillance of allies or something covert they aren't being transparent about? Are they worried other nations might want to join a Republic? Worth investigating further perhaps, the strong blowback of a region of.people who havent been happy for years on the face of it seems overly dramatic...unless there is a reason they arent sharing...

Because, as they put it, they fought a long time to gain independence from Denmark to be a free and sovereign state, and are just not interested in teaming up with the USA now and whatever ligatures might end up connected to that down the road.

They have their reasons. Just like we have our reasons for wanting to keep our territory. It's not about "sharing". Our land is our land, their land is their land.

If we ask them if they'd like to sell us their land and they say "no", then that should be the end. Period. Just as it would be if someone asked us about our land.

Unless we decide that we're now an imperial, predatory country that doesn't care about law.

Denmark does nothing for Greelanders and they offer nothing for NATOs defense. Grrenland can be a.territory of the U.S just as Puerto Rico

No, NATO and the UN were never a good idea - they were established for the purpose of slowly eroding national sovereignty to the point where each nation, especially the United States, would be under the effective control of the global elite.

The UN Charter was drafted by communists under the funding and direction of the Globalist banking cabal. Even the U.S. delegation at the founding conference was headed by a communist traitor/spy, Alger Hiss.

Hiss was technically the first Secretary General of the UN, and was later convicted of being a communist spy.

Under NATO the U.S., Britain, and Israel sought to manipulate public opinion in Europe for decades by carrying out dozens of terrorist attacks under the command structure of Operation Gladio. Gladio killed hundreds of innocent European citizens.

  • the 1980 Italian bank bombing
  • the train bombing in Bologna that killed 185
  • the Oktoberfest Bombing
  • most recently the 7/7 tube bombing, which was actually a false flag.

... and many others.

In 1990 the EU officially denounced Gladio and acknowledged at least some of the crimes and murders - but, of course they never lifted a finger to stop it.

Gladio continues to this day.

That's up to Denmark. It's their land. I don't know why this needs to be so complicated.
That sounds like arrogant colonialism right there. These same monarchies complain about America extracting a major drug dealer. How short their memories and hypocritical their own actions. Their own attitudes regarding free speech and free elections contradicts these so-called concerns they pretend they hold. They dont practice what the preach, and rarely do. "You pay twice for your heating old boy if we even bestow upon you the right to heat your modest home at all" (we will jet across the globe and heat up our mansions though). Same shyte, different pile.

A peaceful country wanting to just keep its own damn land is "arrogant colonialism" now.

Okay.

The alternate universe remains alive and well.

That's not quite right. Denmark is a small country, okay. But they spend 3.22% of their GDP on defense. During the Cold War, our division in Schleswig-Holstein formed a joint command (HQ LANDJUT) with the Danish armed forces, and we were supposed to stop the Warsaw Pact in the north. And Greenland also costs Denmark a lot of money. And the Greenlanders benefit from the Danish healthcare and education systems. Furthermore, Greenland has been autonomous from Denmark since 1979 and self-governing since 2009.

Why is it Denmarks land? .Are Greenlanders slaves,.owned by Denmark? If citizens of Greenland like the idea of using the U.S dollar while having their own autonomous government with U.S military protection, what is wrong with that?America should have a large.contingency there to make this case and counter the usual E.U propaganda they push. If you guys arent on the ball hire the right person who can get done. RFK and others didnt think Trump could get pharmacy prices down. .Well, guess what? As a team they focused and completed the task.

Because nobody really believes that Greenlanders will be better off in the USA. Will they still be able to decide who gets to extract their natural resources? Will they have a free healthcare system? Will they be able to study for free?
