First, I want the end goal of diplomacy and peace to prevail, this will not be achieved if Iran's government is able to control the terms.
Regardless of ones position on this war, the fact is Iran must not have a nuke. Period. This should be an opinion shared by all civilised nations. Imagine how ruthless they would be in funding terrorism or blocking the Strait/charging for access if they had the nuclear threat behind them?
Thus, we have to see the U.S and Israel win. Not just for my biased support of these nations and Judeo-Christian doctrine and freedom of Man, but also for the sake of the world.
I keep hearing about what appears to be an artificial 60 day period through media that states that Trump must halt combat activities within 60 days . I say artificial because it has not been enforced in the past, not even selectively. Obama basically droned other nations for years without a concern from Congress, right? Or am I wrong? Furthermore, I presume a competent lawyer could surely argue, " if another nation forced a blockade and we prevented them from doing so by countering their blockade, is this an act of war?". It could be argued not.
Also, if the U.S agreed to a ceasefire, does even after one day let alone two weeks of peace, reset the artificial 60 day counter some wish to impose?
Finally, if a nation attacks a U.S vessel or U.S base in the region, have they now forfeited their position and forced the navy into combat? Surely a ship at sea cannot be held to the demands of congress to declare war before striking back.
Look, I want peace, I am sure for all of Trumps bravado on Truth Social that he wants it too. In fact, this tough talk was most likely designed to avoid the harsh reality of war. It is akin to a dog growling before it bites. Respond to the growl and the bite never arrives.
I would love to see the Iranian people free from their oppressors and both the world and Iranians would be happier if they were. However, diplomacy will only be effective when supported by strength. A blockade is not war per we, it is to avoid war and provide the necessary conditions for the Iranian government and the world to see this issue resolved.
As is often the case, America needs to do so alone. Trump is not allowing Europe in their decline of lost generations to dictate U.S policy any further while they bring little to the table. They cannot be allowed to manage Americas global decline through their actions, especially as many of their politicians are beholden to China I am certain.
