The total collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. The fundamental factors that contributed to collapse, including economic stagnation and the overextension of the military, were rooted in Soviet policies, but the Cold War and the U.S. policy of containment played a role as well.
The current Russian government aren't the Soviets. I doubt they have the level of lying about economic matters at all levels that led to the Soviet Collapse.
You have fallen into the trap of fighting the current war like the last war.
Ask Europe how that works.
