Yes now the problem is cost. Obamacare is actually the GOP plan they always said the liars. We have to have much more transparency and competition which the GOP blocks of course. They love having the most expensive healthcare system anywhere by far and many people are not covered. Brilliant!
Spoken like a true socialist repudiating his master Obumma's worthless healthcare!

It is the basic framework for the GOP plan but needs to be tinkered with forever. Especially in scumbag GOP states that refuse Medicaid expansion. Obamacare is the best thing that ever happened to the working poor.

Funny I've never actually heard anyone or heard OF anyone actually saying how thankful they were for Obamacare. But I've heard a LOT of people bitch royal hell about how pissed they were how much it raised the cost of their insurance plan to astronomically unaffordable levels.

No keep your doctor, no save $2500, no pass go and collect $200. It was all a lie. No one lies to you to do you a favor. For any national health plan to truly work, it must work for EVERYONE and not benefit a few at the sacrifice of the majority.

Well you are surrounded by other brainwashed functional morons and probably live in a scum GOP state and don't have expanded medicaid for the poor and poor workers. Guaranteed health care costs more than scam GOP healthcare. Plus 75% of those on the exchanges pay less than $100 a month. Everything you know is wrong. We need more competition and transparency on costs, but your scumbag GOP blocks all that. Idiot oops brainwashed functional idiot point of view....

What people NEED is health CARE.
Did you hear there is a annual cap on patient spending? Probably not. Change the goddamn channel and read something for Christ's sake.

Well of course Obamacare is a basic framework. The cost rise curve has come down, it was always going to be a catastrophic plan because that was the way things were going and cost are so ridiculous thanks to the GOP. You could have kept your doctor if you had gotten the right insurance plan. Hospital networks were going that way also if they had not already.

Guaranteed care does cost more than a scam GOP plan where you can be cut off and there is no annual cap. Check out all the free tests you can get and you will realize that annual cap is what saves you. Plus as I said 75% of plans on the exchanges cost less than $100 a month. Sounds like all your friends are more GOP brainwashed blow hards... If you don't like it fix it, it is sure a hell of a lot better than what came before. Poor people and poor workers are now covered. What a concept! Like every other rich country in the world idiot.

LordBrownTrout I live in florida where lots of canadians spend their time-----when they get really sick, instead of waiting in canada with their rationed care for things like hip surgery---they come to the US to have it done. Canadas health care suck.
Hip surgery is not an urgent need. Most people go for years before they finally get it.
I would get it done for free in Canada rather than pay $100,000 here

Hip surgery is a lot more urgent than a Sex Change or an abortion, I'll tell you that for sure.

It isn't an "emergency" but it is needed, particularly in the current age where more and more doctors are hesitant to help their patients cope with the pain with oxy scrips.

If I needed it, I would rather get it done by a Competent surgeon, not some socialized medicine quack. Its still a medical challenge, and even native born Canadians like Alex Trebek come to America when they have a health challenge instead of relying on Canada's failed system.
You have to wait for hip surgery in Canada, maybe six months, but you will not receive a bill

In the US, you may wait six weeks and face a substantial bill later
i have met many people who got that surgery including my mother-in-law who was on SS....no bills.....
Depends on your coverage
Most people have 80 percent coverage, many can only afford much less.
It s free in Canada

It isn't "free" anywhere. The taxpayers get subjected to more financial assrapery in Canada.

And besides, the question isn't "price", its QUALITY of service as well as QUICKNESS of service. Something libs never even address. In countries like Canada, they delay treatments for long periods of time, hoping the patients die first so they don't have to do it. Orthodpedic surgeons never go to the morgue to replace the hips of patients before they are interred, regardless of how long they've been on the list.

And QUALITY is the issue. Canadian subject Alex Trebec had a very serious health crisis. He didn't go for the "free" treatment of his native land, but had his procedures done in America. Quality was important to him, as it is to millions.
Trebek was a US citizen and lived and worked in the US. He was also in a position to ba able to afford the care.

Last year my wife and I made o bit over $100K. Our total effective tax rate, Federal and provincial was around 15%. I'll take that and free healthcare.

Quality was important to him, as it is to millions.

Actually it should read……as it is to millionaires

Our healthcare is tilted toward the wealthy
Those with marginal insurance can be bankrupted by a hospital stay

Again, you are ignoring the Quality issue in health care.

You talk as if its a "commodity" where its all the same.

How will a risky socialized medicine scheme help improve quality.

Socialized medicine is always better quality because the people vote based on the quality of their health care under socialism.
With a for profits private health care system, you prepay so have zero say in what ever quality they decide to give you, and their main motive is to please the stockholders, not the patients.
BOLLOCKS!
Under "socialist "healthcare" " you tend to get the doctor and treatment the system decides you will get, rather than the one you might want. Personal choice in the matter is a lower option to the needs and willingness to pay decided by "the State", which is footing the bill.

Private "healthcare", more correctly "medical care"; allows greater patient choice than the "one size fits all" from guv'mint run medical care/treatment plans.
When I had my hip replaced, I was given 3 choices: first available slot in one of 3 hospitals, first available slot in a particular hospital or first available slot for a particular doctor. I chose the later and had a 3 month wait. I was functioning with manageable pain.

When I had my herniated disc taken care of, I had the head of neurosurgery at the hospital do the operation. 6 days after I saw him, mostly because my mobility was severely degraded. Triage, look it up.

I say it with a sad sense of the disparity between us. I am not included within the pale of glorious anniversary! Your high independence only reveals the immeasurable distance between us. The blessings in which you, this day, rejoice, are not enjoyed in common. The rich inheritance of justice, liberty, prosperity and independence, bequeathed by your fathers, is shared by you, not by me. The sunlight that brought light and healing to you, has brought stripes and death to me. This Fourth July is yours, not mine. You may rejoice, I must mourn…

Comment:

David Blight, author of the book Fredrick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom stated regarding the July 5th speech:

“It’s the birth of American Independence, the birth of a nation, and what the speech is saying is you must destroy first what you created and remake it, or it will be destroyed — and you with it,”

I partly agree.

America should be destroyed, but I do not want it remade. America is irreparably tainted forever.

It was irreparably tainted when Texas agreed to join. Texas should leave this tainted Union, and never return.

Often that waiting period/time can aggravate conditions (when not having fatal results).

Those with the fund$ to spare and option to travel, can dodge the national socialized medical care system, such as we see here where I live when there are often many a B.C. Canada license plate vehicle parked in the lots of our local clinics and hospital.

Some learn how to game both systems. My wife's late mother was married for several years to a Canadian whom would play which ever system he could to best advantage, least out of his pocket. Being married to a USA citizen he was able to get Medicare and though he never paid much into it, he got scores more out of it. I lament that the USA couldn't turn around and collect from that so-called superior Canadian medical care~insurance system for the thousands of dollar$ we paid for his care which should have been paid by Canada, if he were willing to wait the several months for his turn to be treated up there.

He got treated here.

Health insurance ain't squat if it doesn't cover and pay for what you need.

What people NEED is health CARE.
More correctly, many need medical care. If they took care of their health, many often wouldn't need it.

"Health care" is how you take care of your health.

"Medical care" is what you need when that doesn't work, such as disease or accidental injury; or when you failed to take proper care of your health.

Of course Healthcare in these semi socialized countries isn't free. You pay through the nose. Everything is heavily taxed to pay for the free Healthcare. Instead of paying out of one pocket you pay from another pocket.

One thing you won't find in government paid health care, medical malpractice lawsuits. There are no million dollar payouts against doctors who happened to be walking down the hall.

Maybe so, but the overall cost of healthcare is much less and nobody has to sell their house to pay medical bills

You don't get it at all.

The point is that America has the Highest Quality of healthcare.

If you want the best, you have to pony up more.

Further, when Mick Jagger in Socialist Great Britain needed complex surgery and came to America, the NHS would not pony up. He had to pay the bill himself. And if he didn't have it in cash money, he would have had to sell a house.

Counting all taxes, premiums, etc., health care in socialized countries costs less than half what it does in the US.
And quality of average health care in socialized countries is much better.
That is because in the US, you have already prepaid you premiums, so have no say in anything related to health care.

And yes, you can sue over health care in countries with socialized medicine.
In fact, you have many more avenues of recourse than you do in the US, where you have to fight against a for profit insurance company.

In all evaluations, the US comes out as one of the worst for health care on average.
The fact the very wealthy can pay huge amounts for the test possible health care in the US, does not mean most people can.
Most people are not Mick Jagger and can not sell one of their houses, in order to be able to afford good health care.
So most of us on average in the US, get very bad health care.

That should be obvious.
When you use insurance to pay for anything, you have already pre-paid.
So then you have no means left of being able to do anything about whatever they want to do to you
And instead of being better quality, it is always lower quality because the insurance company always skims of profit, so the provider gets paid less.
Why do you think provider are going to do a better job in the US, when they get paid less?

Why do Republicans like going without healthcare, or receiving ridiculous bills in the mail from their healthcare providers?
