It can, indirectly. In the UK per person, we pay half in tax as to what you pay in private medical insurance. So we can't get away from the tax, if you're fit and healthy, you've paid the health cost regardless. The indirect part is, how many of those who've been bankrupt wouldn't have gone bankrupt if their tax burden was reduced by the amount that goes into health care.And if you have a serious medical issue, you'll be looking at bankruptcy. That does not happen in other western democracies, only in this country.
So to say, "It does not happen in other Western countries" is unknown and just an opinion, unless of course, you can link to a study that backs your theory.
