Think you know about slavery? You don’t. A repost

Slavery in the New World pretty much began with providing labor for the Sugar Plantations in Recif, Brazil. The Dutch West Indies company had a lot of stockholders.

I don't think the Dutch or any Europeans got beyond coastal Africa. What gold were they looking for and where?
In Europe, I understand the first Country was Portugal?

LOl! You did note all the other stuff I noted besides cotton, right? BTW..cotton was never a loser..it just was not as big a winner until the gin. The point, which you have adroitly sidestepped..is that a great deal of money was generated by slavery..and that money floated everyone's boat--everyone except the slave.

No matter, as you have clearly shown that you will bend the facts to bolster your alternate agenda--not much to say here~
You actually thought that the cotton gin took the place of slavery in the cultivation of cotton. So ignorant of a response renders you unable to cogently discuss this issue.

Who is "everyone"? It didn't benefit anyone but the slave OWNERS. They then sold the products on and the CAPITAL that was invested by the NORTH sent that wealth overseas. You IGNORE all of that expense, expense that was funded by the efforts of Irish and Chinese laborers who worked under far worse conditions than the slaves did, and who lived far shorter lives than the slaves did as a result.

You are factually wrong on all cases.

Indeed...we are moving on..but I think you have some issues in the directions we are moving in. No matter...Demographics are inexorable.

..and I've read some of your posts..talk about whining??
Me whine? Only about braindead Dimmers who fake voted in Pinochijoe, the worst president in all history. And possibly anyone who thinks lazy black dregs deserve reparation pay........

What is now called Ghana was then the Gold Coast. Africans had been mining gold in that region for a long time.

These conversations always ignore that it was the Arabs who set up the slave markets, routes and economy in West Africa. The white-right always wants to shift blame from themselves to black Africans. It's like one member of the gang points the fingers at the others as if he weren't also guilty.
So if Muslims are selling slaves that meant it was Moral, Good and Jesus Approved that Christians buy those slaves?

Slavery is of course bad and slaves are usually victims, but there is such a moment as colonization, and one cannot but admit that the population of slaves itself is essentially a beneficiary here, because this ensures their settlement by displacing the local native populations. This is the standard colonization policy of agricultural empires started from Assyria.

Moreover, slavery itself is a very relative concept. In many modern countries, it has been preserved almost in its original form. As a rule, people have the right to change jobs, but they are forced to work, and no one asks about their political position when it comes to military duty. Militarily, most of the people in Eurasia are slaves, they are obliged to fight for any regime if they are called up. The United States in this regard is the exception and not the rule, they have a professional army

Therefore, for modern civilization it is appropriate to speak only partial rejection of slavery. In context of choice of work and place of living only.

Bottom line: By the next century (or before), the United States of America will become a country of mostly African American and Hispanic people.

They will call the shots.

As they should.

The Jefferson Memorial WILL be renamed. Maybe the George Floyd Memorial (I am not being sarcastic).

The current House of Representatives has already renamed our capital "Washington, [Frederick] Douglass Commonwealth."

It only makes sense that "Washington" will eventually be replaced by someone whom African Americans or Hispanic Americans revere.
The majority population will be Latino because they are both out breeding blacks and large numbers of Latinos are immigrating every year. Blacks will stay eternal twelve and fifteen percent of the population.

I first posted this back in July 2015 but given the nonsense transpiring now I felt compelled to once again review the facts about slavery. Slavery was NOT created in the colonies. It was imported to the colonies from Africa. The Dutch went to Africa originally seeking gold and were paid in gold for transporting African slaves from one African port to another for black African slave owners. It’s all here and a lot of it will be uncomfortable to many.

Certain things tend to set off triggers in you. For me it was Don Lemon– when he joined the flag-damning freaking idiot liberal lemmings in their bloodlust considering the removal of the Jefferson memorial:
CNN’s Don Lemon on Tuesday hinted that there will come a day when the United States will have to “rethink” tributes such as the Jefferson Memorial. After a contentious segment with Ben Jones, in which the former Congressman defended the Confederate flag, Legal View host Ashley Banfield brought up the author of the Declaration of Independence.
She reminded, “There is a monument of him in the capital city of the United States. No one ever asked for that to come down.” At first, Lemon asserted that the comparison was not “equal” and that Jefferson “was a part of the entire United States.” He then added, “There may come a day when we may want to rethink Jefferson, I don’t if we should do that. But when we get to that point, I’ll be happy to partake in that particular discussion.”
And so will I.
I’d already warned about this and I got to watch it take place. With each passing day liberals become more and more like ISIS- seeking to purge history of anything they deem politically incorrect according to THEIR version of politically correct history. Let’s go back and look at how slavery came to be. Here are some hard facts.
Thomas Jefferson had nothing but contempt for slavery:
Thomas Jefferson was a consistent opponent of slavery his whole life. Calling it a “moral depravity” and a “hideous blot,” he believed that slavery presented the greatest threat to the survival of the new American nation. Jefferson also thought that slavery was contrary to the laws of nature, which decreed that everyone had a right to personal liberty. These views were radical in a world where unfree labor was the norm.
At the time of the American Revolution, Jefferson was actively involved in legislation that he hoped would result in slavery’s abolition. In 1778, he drafted a Virginia law that prohibited the importation of enslaved Africans. In 1784, he proposed an ordinance that would ban slavery in the Northwest territories. But Jefferson always maintained that the decision to emancipate slaves would have to be part of a democratic process; abolition would be stymied until slaveowners consented to free their human property together in a large-scale act of emancipation. To Jefferson, it was anti-democratic and contrary to the principles of the American Revolution for the federal government to enact abolition or for only a few planters to free their slaves.
But don’t blame Jefferson for slavery. Don’t blame the Founding Fathers for slavery. They didn’t invent slavery, although MSNBC and CNN would have you believe they did.
Blame the Sumerians.
Slavery wasn’t invented in Africa. It’s probably a Mesopotamian concept, practiced in Sumeria for millennia before it was seen in Africa. Slavery has long been a staple of Islam and Muslim countries. Islam is also indelibly intertwined with African slavery.

Slavery in Africa is still alive
FACT: The blame for slavery being present in the New World derives from African slave owners. Perhaps it is the billionaires of Africa from whom reparations should be sought.

Comment:
Hmm...., Anthony Johnson is the first documented colonist slave owner (as opposed to indentured servant) was Black.
See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Johnson_(colonist)
Slavery and racism (whether based on race or culture) is older than written history.
Who should pay reparations? Democrats. Only those who support Democrat candidates, who have supported Democrat candidates because it was the Democrat party that supported slavery, defended slavery, created Jim Crow, created the KKK and implemented institutionalized racism across the South. They've created Blue city plantations and packed their ghettos with their Blacks paid and taught them little while filling their heads with victimization and racism.
In atonement, all they’ve ever done is blame others for racism and slavery. It’s no coincidence that every time Democrats compare election integrity laws to some evil historic reference, it is always something the Democrats were responsible for.
Want to end racism and hold the prime villains accountable? Target those responsible.
I knew all that, but thanks.

They are trying to claim that since slavery was also in South America and the Caribbean it justifies having it here
We had something they did not have…..
An elected government and a Constitution
Gaslighting at it's finest RW.

Slavery was not only not unique to America, but America at it's highest point of slavery, never even got close to the top 10 nations who used/still use slaves. Yet... when all of western nations think of slavery - they think of America.
Saying that is just true. It has nothing to do with whether slavery in America was wrong or not. Of course it was.
But I don't give any credence to anyone faking outrage about American slavery 200+ years ago... whose household is full of stuff... made by slaves in Asia. TODAY.

The US had 4 million slaves in 1860
Hard to trivialize, as hard as you try

The Confederacy, which is still honored by Republicans, was 40 percent slave

Actually, the Republican Party has always been against slavery, which was also practice in the Union (albeit to a lesser degree) than in the Confederacy.

Even today, we have slavery in a newer form that's called Obamacare.

The essence of slavery is people telling other people what to do whether they like it or not. While the slavemasters of the past told the slaves to "pick that cotton" whether they want to or not, the modern slavemasters tell us to "buy that insurance policy" or "wear that mask", whether we want to or not.

Its all basically the same.

Trivializing... laughable.
Why is Pakistan not known for slavery? India? Russia? China? Iran? The list goes on.
Only America's slavery was bad?
Today - RIGHT NOW - there are an estimated 20,000,000 slaves. TODAY.
No one cares. Absolutely no one cares. At all. Zilch.
Again, I find it quite rich when someone has faux outrage about slavery 200 years ago while walking around in clothes made by slaves, a cell phone made by slaves and a home full of stuff made by modern slavery.
Yeah... sorry... not playing that role.

5 million. 4 million was the number left after Lincoln let over a milion die in contraband camps to keep freed men' from fleeing north and settling in northern states. There is a reason why the vast majority of blacks stayed in the south; yankees wouldn't let them go north.

^^^ This. It's just stupid rubbish trying to discredit southern states for voting Republican is all. These vermin don't care about slavery, or they would be overseas working to free the slaves in Africa and Asia. Somehow they never have the guts to go and face down real slave owners.
