There should be more restrictions on what poor people can buy with food stamps.

This is maybe the shittiest thing about the welfare state (and there are many). Liberals use state policy to create dependency, and then conservatives use it to bully people.
Restricting how taxpayer funds are used by recipients isn’t bullying them. It is making sure our money is being used wisely.

But it is the parents of the infants and toddlers who decide how to spend OUR money. I agree there should be restrictions on what welfare recipients buy: milk, formula, and baby food for the infants, and for older children: chicken, ground beef, inexpensive cuts of fish, veggies, fruit, bread, peanut butter and jelly, eggs and cheese. And only generic brands of canned foods.

What‘s wrong with that?
While Home Economics was a popular class available throughout the 1900's that taught students essential life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, household management and finance, it now rarely shows up in classroom curriculums.

Yeah. It is bullying. If I take your money and then refuse to give it back unless you give me a blow job - would you call that bullying?

Statists use this argument about literally everything. "You didn't build that." According to them, individual liberty is null and void because the government spends money.

If I'm going to be buying dinner for the poor I think I should have a say in what's acceptable to buy and what's not. I'm not saying they shouldn't be able to buy steak or anything nice, but I do think they shouldn't be able to buy a bunch of chips, soda and candy. There's an obesity epidemic in the country, particularly among the poor, and I don't want my money to make it worse. With my taxed income I want people to be buying healthy foods that help facilitate healthy lifestyles. If people are really in such rough shape that they need that kind of help they should be more than happy to just buy the things they actually need with it.
Wanting to dictate what they can buh. You go ahead and do your part and stop the snacks so you can drop the pudge. You actually resent the poor getting food stamps. Go ahead, admit it. Never mind, you just did. Gonna put bag checkers in line with the poor people?

This is why I said the problem compounds. People on welfare are not likely to have internet access at home, or an unlimited phone plan. Do you expect them to pack up the kids, so they can go to the library for internet access?
Within walking distance to a library, absolutely. Neighborhood and individual
Yard sales have great finds for less cost for kid wagons. Assuming a poor family is washing their clothes at the local laundromat, there are always yard sales advertised at these locations. Bulletin boards and free magazines on stands as well advertising yard sales.

Rural areas are in dire need of a public library in every town without question. My first thought was to respond that if it’s possible to go to a yard sale, buy a kid wagon, load them up and make it a fun day trip to the library, weather permitting yes, I think a mom could do this. As you indicated, however, there are many people who do not have public library access within their own town or even nearby towns. That’s so wrong on so many levels. If a society wants an educated populace libraries are indeed a sign. I need to look into why government has not done anything about this, as far as I know, but I might be wrong there might’ve been multiple attempts for change but determined too costly by the state. Sad. I have no clue without researching but I plan to because you’ve peaked my interest. Thanks. Anytime a post leads to learning is a good post.

Conservatives are all about "personal responsibility". And then when they see people exercise it, they scream for "government control".

I think i'll need another irony meter,

Your analogy doesn’t even make sense. Stealing money from me is a crime, as is sexually assaulting me (that’s what it is if you force me). It is not equivalent to the government assigning restrictions as to how food stamp recipients can spend the charity they are given.

Doctor Benjamin Spock put out the handbook on pregnancy and motherhood when I was having babies. When it was revealed that Dr. Spock was a "liberal", he was summarily vilified by the religious right for opposing spanking, or any physical punishment of children, and blamed for the spoilt rotten Baby Boomers and their horrifically over indulged children.
That’s not the book I was referencing good lord DL- Dr. Spock lol when exactly was he considered to be an expert? Nm… I found out. I referenced the current book that’s recommended and is on this following list of top books.

Pros
  • Very comprehensive
  • Includes information for dads
  • Has an accompanying app
Cons
  • Length may feel overwhelming

It's not charity. These are programs we are all forced to pay for via taxes.

Apparently you think the poor live in middle class neighborhoods.

Not the same. People who buy groceries with their own earnings can decide how to spend it. People who buy groceries using other people’s money shouldn’t expect to spend it on junk.

It’s a form of charity to the recipient. They should be appreciative of the aid provided them by this country. This sense of entitlement is going to be our downfall.

No. They do not.

Why do you lie?
Oh, but they do. Our local news sued for the data and had a pile, and I mean a pile of papers stacked on a desk showing the numbers (not names) of cards used at liquor stores and strip clubs.
I don't lie. You are wrong...

And here what RI had to do about it:
Republican-sponsored bills at the State House, a proposed ban on the use of EBT cards at liquor stores, casinos and strip clubs won House approval Thursday on a 66-to-1 vote.

It appears you are the liar...

I would agree with you if the Poor had equal protection of the at-will employment laws for unemployment compensation in our at-will employment States.
