Being good spouses, being good parents, serving their country, being good citizens

Just like any other American can be proud

I believe in spiritual karma, and it could be debts from one generation can be passed to the next until issues are forgiven and resolved to break the cycle of karma or sin. If past sins or issues are not forgiven, the sin of unforgiven essential becomes a new sin that is the responsibility of the next person to resolve. So we either repeat the cycle by refusing to forgive and killing relationships that way, or we break the cycle by forgiving so relations can be healed and restored.

So if someone's calling is to teach forgiveness and is not trying to deny problems or abuse anyone, it is totally possible to be gay and still be a good priest, a good loving parent and a responsible teacher. It depends on what they are teaching.

So seeing the definition of pride here, and homos have pride in being homos...does this mean they KNOW they are not born that way? I mean, if you were born that way...how could it be an achievement?

The best achievement is accepting and forgiving whatever difficulties we face or may be born into as part of technology script in life.

The second step is forgiving and receiving others as they are, the same way we want all ppl to be accepted.

Owning one's identity is one step in that process. You are right, it should never be about denial and false pretenses or that isn't real self esteem but a dangerous cover up to overcompensate. It is just as dangerous and self defeating to push ppl to identify as gay if they're not, as it is to force ppl to try to convert to being straight if they are not.

Whether or not ppl come out as gay or straight, the common factor is healing and finding peace by forgiving and letting go of guilt, fear, or injury from abuse and rejection. Trying to cling to or compel a false self image is harmful regardless which orientation is being pushed onto someone in denial. That is not the purpose of pride events but the exact opposite. You are right, there is risk of being self defeating if ppl are in denial. Unfortunate and sadly ironic.

I know of incarcerated parents who were able to get their kids to go to college instead of ending up in jail like them. It depends what they teach their kids, and the spiritual path of those kids. If ppl forgive the past we don't have to repeat the lessons to learn from them. There are more factors involved.

Dear OffensivelyOpenMinded even if we were to judge homosexuality as a disease like cancer, the first step to healing is forgiveness.

If you look up the history of healing ministries that have used spiritual healing to cure people of all kinds of conditions from cancer, to drug addictions and even unwanted homosexual attractions, the key step is praying for full forgiveness of all related issues. They have NEVER cured someone by judging or rejecting them.
And these are experts who have healed homosexual people and helped them restore their natural heterosexual orientation. They don't try to change or reconcile that, what they change is unforgiveness to forgiveness. And the healing happens as a consequence of forgiving completely instead of fighting fear and guilt etc.

If that's the approach that has worked to heal people of unwanted homosexuality caused by abuse, I'm going to listen to experts who have successfully healed people. Not the ones judging ppl who have never helped anyone to heal and change.
