There Is the incalculable value of owning the media, the schools and the popular culture, so much so that reality can be hidden, very much the way a stage set can produce a temporary and fake reality like a Broadway show.
And a great amount of effort has gone into this "set."

"Over the past several decades, the progressive Left has successfully fulfilled Antonio Gramsci’s famed admonition of a “long march through the institutions”. In almost every Western country, its adherents now dominate the education system, media, cultural institutions, and financial behemoths." Is this the end of progressive America?

Let's go over the reality without the 'spin.'

1.Reagan and the Republicans ended the threat posed by the Evil Empire….

“Between 1974 and 1980, while the United States wallowed in post-Vietnam angst, 10 countries had fallen into the Soviet orbit: South Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, South Yemen, Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, Grenada and Afghanistan. Never had the Soviets lost an inch of real estate to the West. The Brezhnev Doctrine stated simply that once a country went Communist, it would stay Communist. In other words, the Soviet empire would continue to advance and gain territory…”

….while Obama and the Democrats insist that the world’s worst state sponsor of terrorism be guaranteed nuclear weapons.

2.Illegal aliens increase unemployment, cost vast sums in welfare benefits, weigh down the justice system, and decrease the standard of living for real Americans....and decrease the security of our nation.
Yet.....Democrats give them documents that allow them to vote.....it's a quid pro quo.
And to insure that vote, Democrats/Liberals/Progressives would take the birthright from American citizens and award it to illegal aliens.
That's

3. While the Democrats actually started a war to maintain slavery, the Republicans…. A party formed to end slavery….passed the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments.

"Nothing Liberals relish more than searching for reasons for being morally indignant! This is because they can’t take the moral high ground on abortion, adultery, illegitimacy, the divorce rate, drugs, crime, a president molesting an intern and then lying to federal investigators. They stake out a clear moral position only on the issue of slavery…of course, when it mattered, they were on the wrong side of that, too.'
Coulter

What you believe you know about American political reality is nothing more than a version of political correctness:

Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed.
Theodore Dalrymple

Ronald Reagan did not "defeat" any evil empire or the Soviet Union. That happened over the course of time. Reagan gets the benefit of nostalgia.

The rest of your drivel is just your continued feeble grasp of history and putting your stupid "replacement theory" argument forward.
Search for a reason to be morally indignant? LOL, That's been the mantra of the right wing and the alt-right since the night Barack Obama was elected and most of you lost your shit. :auiqs.jpg:

Laying Siege to the Institutions

Christopher F. Rufo | April/May 2022

An elite class, representing a small number of people with influence in the knowledge-based institutions, are acting in their own interest and against the interest of the vast majority of the American people—those who are still attached to the idea that America is a force for good and who think, to take just one example, that young children should be protected from the imposition of radical gender ideology.
...
The following is adapted from a speech delivered at Hillsdale College on April 5, 2022, during a two-week teaching residency at Hillsdale as a Pulliam Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Journalism.

Why do I say that we need to lay siege to our institutions? Because of what has happened to our institutions since the 1960s.

The 1960s saw the rise of new and radical ideologies in America that now seem commonplace—ideologies based on ideas like identity politics and cultural revolution. There is a direct line between those ideas born in the ’60s and the public policies being adopted today in leftist-run cities like Seattle, San Francisco, and Chicago.

The leftist dream of a working-class rebellion in America fizzled after the ’60s. By the mid-1970s, radical groups like the Black Liberation Army and the Weather Underground had faded from prominence. But the leftist dreamers didn’t give up. Abandoning hope of a Russian-style revolution, they settled on a more sophisticated strategy—waging a revolution not of the proletariat, but of the elites, and specifically of the knowledge elites. It would proceed not by taking over the means of production, but by taking control of education and culture—a strategy that German Marxist Rudi Dutschke, a student activist in the 1960s, called “the long march through the institutions.”

This idea is traceable to Italian communist Antonio Gramsci, who wrote in the 1930s of “capturing the culture via infiltration of schools, universities, churches, and the media by transforming the consciousness of society.”

This march through our institutions, begun a half-century ago, has now proved largely successful. Over the past two years, I’ve looked at the federal bureaucracy, the universities, K-12 schools, and big corporations. And what I’ve found is that the revolutionary ideas of the ’60s have been repackaged, repurposed, and injected into American life at the institutional level.

Most Americans are shocked to discover this. We’ve all seen the outrage of parents over the past two years as they learned that their young children were being divided according to their skin color and deemed oppressed or oppressors in public school classrooms. Parents began expressing their outrage against critical race theory not only in school board meetings, but at the polls. This made big news in last year’s gubernatorial election in Virginia, and the demographic of the now-widespread voter rebellion shows that it crosses party lines.
...
The lesson I’ve drawn from reporting on institutions that promote ideologies such as critical race theory and radical gender theory is that they have been captured at the structural level and can’t be reformed from within. So the solution is not a long counter-march through the institutions. You can’t replace bad directors of diversity, equity, and inclusion with good ones. The ideology is baked in. That’s why I call for a siege strategy.

This means, first, that you have to be aggressive. You have to fight on terms that you define. In responding to opponents of the Florida bill, for instance, don’t argue against “teaching diversity and inclusion,” but against sexualizing young children. And don’t pull your punches. We will never win if we play by the rules set by the elites who are undermining our country. We can be polite and lose every battle or we can be impolite and actually deliver results for the great majority of Americans who are fighting for their small businesses, fighting for their jobs, fighting for their families.

Second, you have to mobilize popular support. This requires ripping the veil off of what our institutions are doing through real investigation and reporting so that Americans can make informed choices. We live in an information society, and if we don’t get the truth out, we will never gain traction against the narratives being constantly refashioned and pushed by the Left.
...

(Clue; this is what is meant by "The Deep State".)

Rewriting history for your fellow low info proggies. It doesn't work on people who pay attention & actually remember what happened.
Dems did everything they could to prop up the USSR & oppose Reagan as he took on the evil empire & accelerated the collapse by forcing them to spend money they did not have to keep up.
The lefties have always been useful idiots for evil.
Changing history is really big for you totalitarians.
How very Orwellian of you.

Even more amazing: President Carter himself was also willing to jump into bed with the Soviets. In the closing days of the 1980 presidential campaign, while trailing Ronald Reagan in the polls, Jimmy Carter sent a political ally, industrialist Armand Hammer, to a secret meeting with Soviet ambassador Anatoly Dobrynin at the embassy in Washington. Hammer asked the Soviets to help Carter win votes in key states by allowing Jewish “refuseniks” to emigrate to Israel. The Soviets rejected Hammer’s request.

In January 1984, former President Carter approached Ambassador Dobrynin in person. Carter wanted to derail President Reagan’s defense buildup, and asked for help from the Evil Empire in unseating President Reagan. It’s not clear if the Soviets gave Carter what he wanted.

Then there’s Speaker of the House Thomas P. “Tip” O’Neill. He privately told Ambassador Dobrynin that it was in everyone’s best interests if the Soviets would help the Democrats keep “that demagogue Reagan” from being re-elected. O’Neill warned Dobrynin that the “primitive instincts” of this “dangerous man” would plunge the world into war.

I don't need to remember. I was there. I lived it. Again, you have no idea what you're talking about. You just repeat the same right wing talking points I've seen posted for four decades. All you know are the same "stories" you've been fed, time after time.

Listen carefully...Ronald Wilson Reagan had nothing to do with the collapse of the Soviet Union.

You're a sucker who swallows every lie your masters offer you.

"SO ON WHOM or what do we bestow the title of the "evil empire's" killer? Was it Mikhail Gorbachev himself who pulled down what Lenin and Stalin had built up? It is tempting to finger Gorbachev, but this would ascribe too much wisdom and foresight to a man who wanted merely to reform, but not to relinquish, the empire. At no point, however, did Gorbachev want to yield Moscow's pride of place as the number two superpower. And he was blissfully confident that the risks were tolerable: "There is no reason to fear the collapse or the end of socialism", Gorbachev assured Romanian leader Nicolae Ceausescu three weeks after the Berlin Wall had been breached and three weeks before the Romanian dictator was executed by his own people.

Reagan was made from far sterner stuff than was his Soviet counterpart. His genial grin and wise-cracking demeanor concealed a spine of steel when push came to shove. Yet at their next meeting in Reykjavik in 1986, where Gorbachev would not budge on the "Star Wars" question, Reagan was decisive and unforgiving. He recalls in An American Life how he stood up from the table to proclaim that the meeting was over. Then he turned to his Secretary of State: "Let's go, George. We're leaving." Like any good diplomat, Shultz was crushed by so much roughness, but Reagan was completely unfazed. Later on, he explained: "I went to Reykjavik determined that everything was negotiable except two things, our freedom and our future."

The American economy was also made from sterner stuff than Gorbachev's collapsing command economy. After the faux prosperity of the 1970s, fueled by skyrocketing oil prices and infusions of Western loans, the Soviet economy went into a terminal tail spin while its U.S. counterpart turned on its afterburners…The supply-siders were upset by the heavy government spending, the Left by the government's retraction from the economy through deregulation. Miraculously, growth returned after the stagnation of the 1970s while inflation did not."

The game is always the same: Present actual, real "facts" that can indeed be defended, but then pile on lies of omission, lies of extrapolation and lies of distortion.

"But I provided facts" is the defense, ignoring the rest.

This is what they've been conditioned to believe as "Truth", since the day Limbaugh went national. They live and breathe these behaviors. Tedious and predictable, but certainly effective within their world.

Wrong again proggy. Lying doesn't change the actual facts of what happened.
Try it on somebody who doesn't remember the truth, has very limited intelligence or just has no common sense.
Dems have a whole party full of them you can gaslight.
Listen carefully... saying Reagan had nothing to do with the collapse of the Soviet Union is about as stupid as you can get short of believing Dems didn't enable the commies.
Lying & ignorance is no way to go through life

Jan. 6 Hearings Give Democrats a Chance to Recast Midterm ...

https://www.nytimes.com › U.S. › Politics

5 hours ago — Republican lawmakers have already begun pushing a counternarrative to dismiss the hearings as nothing more than political theater at a moment ...

So their allies in the entertainment industry will cancel all the TV shows….to allow the Democrats to put on their show called “The Jan 6 Hearings.”

There is no reality involved, and is exactly what the Democrats have done to poison the culture.

The Democrats called for riots, and there were over 12 thousand of them, and then refused to prosecute the rioters, and then sent in their agents to roil up the Capitol peaceful protests…..and now pretend that the Americans who protested the stolen election are the real rioters.

The best thing Reagan did was not try to exploit the fall of the Soviet Union
That would have led to a revolution from the hardliners

Letting Gorbachev handle it at his own pace allowed Russia to regroup

Having lived through much of this (cultural suicide), I place the start of the Leftist takeover at the Vietnam "peace" rallies of the 60's, and the Leftists of those days' reaction to the draft. They stayed in college as long as possible in order to minimize their chances of being drafted, then realized that being in college in one capacity or another is not a bad gig. Little work to do, not much money, but the chance of becoming, in time, a Professor or Administrator, which is an incredibly good gig.

Ultimately, there were so many of them - draft dodging Leftists - that they were in a position to take over the institutions. Teachers who would not toe the Leftist line were shunned, applicants who didn't have the "correct" attitudes and philosophies were rejected, and ultimately it resulted in what we have today: colleges are Leftist indoctrination centers, from top to bottom. And of course the Ivies and other top universities were not immune - look at Yale, Harvard, Princeton et al today.

The same thing happened in most of the urban and suburban school districts in the country, aided and abetted by Democrat politicians who invited the two awful Teachers' unions into their midst. Hence public K-12 is what it is today.

And the same thing happened in government - mainly the Federal government. People chose to work there, not because they wanted to be public servants, but because they wanted to, in effect, rule the world by the way they performed their official duties. This is why we have the horrible Deep State today. (If any reader wants to see & hear a great explication of same, watch a replay of Tucker's opening monologue last night (6/6); it is CLASSIC).

Same thing had always been going on in "Hollywood," but it rose to overwhelming prominence...the Leftists control almost all narratives in all of the scripted programming and films.

So the Left controls Academe, the entertainment media, and the rank & file of government workers at all levels.

And it is not enough to observe it and shake your head; we must FIGHT IT at every turn. Expose the lies, the corruption, the blatant nonsense that are at the core of their mission. And hope that the American people are paying attention.

Excellent!!!

Not having lived it....I have studied it extensively.

  1. The radicals of the sixties did not remain within the universities…They realized that the apocalypse never materialized. “…they were dropping off into environmentalism and consumerism and fatalism…I watched many of my old comrades apply to graduate school in universities they had failed to burn down, so they could get advanced degrees and spread the ideas that had been discredited in the streets under an academic cover.” Collier and Horowitz, “Destructive Generation: Second Thoughts About The Sixties,” p. 294-295.
  2. “The radicals were not likely to go into business or the conventional practice of the professions. They were part of the chattering class, talkers interested in policy, politics, culture. They went into politics, print and electronic journalism, church bureaucracies, foundation staffs, Hollywood careers, public interest organizations, anywhere attitudes and opinions could be influenced. And they are exerting influence.” Robert H. Bork, “Slouching Toward Gomorrah,” p. 51
  1. “[The radicals] did not go away or change their minds; the New Left shattered into a multitude of single-issue groups. We now have, to name a few, radical feminists, black extremists, animal rights groups, radical environmentalists, activist homosexual organizations, multiculturalists, organizations such as People for the American Way, the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL), the National Organization for Women (NOW), and Planned Parenthood.” Robert H. Bork, “Slouching Toward Gomorrah,” p. 53

Bored. Flood the zone with shit and then run away and declare a non-existent victory.
Let me leave you with some bitter ashes. Not only did Reagan support an ideology of conservatism which has long been borne out
to be complete failure, having no successful policy implementations in the last four plus decades, he also holds the distinction
of being the architect and father of modern deficit spending. And he elevated it to an art form..which both Pubs and Dems have copied.

Difference is, Dems didn't hand out gifted tax cuts like water. Sure they raised taxes and spent..but that's what I expect from a Democrat.
