The 'This' And 'That' Of American Politics

Having lived through much of this (cultural suicide), I place the start of the Leftist takeover at the Vietnam "peace" rallies of the 60's, and the Leftists of those days' reaction to the draft. They stayed in college as long as possible in order to minimize their chances of being drafted, then realized that being in college in one capacity or another is not a bad gig. Little work to do, not much money, but the chance of becoming, in time, a Professor or Administrator, which is an incredibly good gig.

Ultimately, there were so many of them - draft dodging Leftists - that they were in a position to take over the institutions. Teachers who would not toe the Leftist line were shunned, applicants who didn't have the "correct" attitudes and philosophies were rejected, and ultimately it resulted in what we have today: colleges are Leftist indoctrination centers, from top to bottom. And of course the Ivies and other top universities were not immune - look at Yale, Harvard, Princeton et al today.

The same thing happened in most of the urban and suburban school districts in the country, aided and abetted by Democrat politicians who invited the two awful Teachers' unions into their midst. Hence public K-12 is what it is today.

And the same thing happened in government - mainly the Federal government. People chose to work there, not because they wanted to be public servants, but because they wanted to, in effect, rule the world by the way they performed their official duties. This is why we have the horrible Deep State today. (If any reader wants to see & hear a great explication of same, watch a replay of Tucker's opening monologue last night (6/6); it is CLASSIC).

Same thing had always been going on in "Hollywood," but it rose to overwhelming prominence...the Leftists control almost all narratives in all of the scripted programming and films.

So the Left controls Academe, the entertainment media, and the rank & file of government workers at all levels.

And it is not enough to observe it and shake your head; we must FIGHT IT at every turn. Expose the lies, the corruption, the blatant nonsense that are at the core of their mission. And hope that the American people are paying attention.

History has proven the Vietnam protestors to be right……they were the true Patriots

There is no Deep State……it is just another RW myth

Bored. Flood the zone with shit and then run away and declare a non-existent victory.
Let me leave you with some bitter ashes. Not only did Reagan support an ideology of conservatism which has long been borne out
to be complete failure, having no successful policy implementations in the last four plus decades, he also holds the distinction
of being the architect and father of modern deficit spending. And he elevated it to an art form..which both Pubs and Dems have copied.

Difference is, Dems didn't hand out gifted tax cuts like water. Sure they raised taxes and spent..but that's what I expect from a Democrat.

Again, why do you keep putting forward this revisionist nonsense? None of these three people caused the collapse of the Soviet Union. You can actually make somewhat of a case for Thatcher as she was involved with engaging the Soviets before she became PM. But she didn't contribute to its collapse...The Pope???? LOL. C'mon. He was too busy helping to cover up Catholic church scandals that were still being kept tightly under wraps.

Due to the Democrat's fear and hatred of religion, you have been lied to about sexual abuse by some clergy.

Actually, not the case. More of your clergy are involved in abuse, than in the Church's clergy.

From the Amazon review of Godless, by Coulter…
Though liberalism rejects the idea of God and reviles people of faith, it bears all the attributes of a religion. In Godless, Coulter throws open the doors of the Church of Liberalism, showing us its sacraments (abortion), its holy writ (Roe v. Wade), its martyrs (from Soviet spy Alger Hiss to cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal), its clergy (public school teachers), its churches (government schools, where prayer is prohibited but condoms are free), its doctrine of infallibility (as manifest in the "absolute moral authority" of spokesmen from Cindy Sheehan to Max Cleland), and its cosmology (in which mankind is an inconsequential accident).

Where is there more sex abuse.....by clergy in the Church.....or by your clergy....public school teachers?

The product of the study, titled the John Jay Report indicated that some 11,000 allegations had been made against 4,392 priests in the USA. This number constituted approximately 4% of the priests who had served during the period covered by the survey (1950–2002).

...versus welfare.

…the Democrats have created a welfare system that does this: From Peter Ferrara, “America’s Ticking Bankruptcy Bomb,” chapter five.

‘Welfare’ as a wholly owned subsidiary of the government, and its main result is the incentivizing of a disrespect for oneself, and for the entity that provides the welfare. As more folks in a poor neighborhood languish with little or no work, entire local culture begins to change: daily work is no longer the expected social norm. Extended periods of hanging around the neighborhood, neither working nor going to school becoming more and more socially acceptable.

Since productive activity not making any economic sense because of the work disincentives of the welfare plantation, other kinds of activities proliferate: drug and alcohol abuse, crime, recreational sex, illegitimacy, and family breakup are the new social norms, as does the culture of violence.

"The lessons of history … show conclusively that continued dependence upon relief induces a spiritual and moral disintegration fundamentally destructive to the national fiber. To dole out relief in this way is to administer a narcotic, a subtle destroyer of the human spirit."
These searing words about Depression-era welfare are from Franklin Roosevelt's 1935 State of the Union Address.

There Is the incalculable value of owning the media, the schools and the popular culture, so much so that reality can be hidden, very much the way a stage set can produce a temporary and fake reality like a Broadway show.
And a great amount of effort has gone into this "set."

"Over the past several decades, the progressive Left has successfully fulfilled Antonio Gramsci’s famed admonition of a “long march through the institutions”. In almost every Western country, its adherents now dominate the education system, media, cultural institutions, and financial behemoths." Is this the end of progressive America?

Let's go over the reality without the 'spin.'

"Nothing Liberals relish more than searching for reasons for being morally indignant! This is because they can’t take the moral high ground on abortion, adultery, illegitimacy, the divorce rate, drugs, crime, a president molesting an intern and then lying to federal investigators. They stake out a clear moral position only on the issue of slavery…of course, when it mattered, they were on the wrong side of that, too.'
Coulter

What you believe you know about American political reality is nothing more than a version of political correctness:

Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed.
Theodore Dalrymple

It is the Republicans who are trying to North Koreaize our institutions. They will be allowed to only teach what right wing nationalists want. They will ignore racism, sexism and other bigotry that Republicans are actively pushing.

1. Ronald Reagan defeated the Soviet Union. Russia and Putin are the biggest threats to this country. Right wing terrorists have killed more Americans than Islamic terrorists. That is exactly why Putin supports Trump and his right wing fascist supporters.

2. There is no evidence of that. More fake news that you are pushing. Right wing fascist Trump supporters are the threat to this country. All you Trump supporters can push is hate. This same argument was used by Adolf Hitler. The only difference is that in this case, Hispanics and other minorities are substituted for Jews.

Illegal immigrants were down due to the coronavirus not Trump.

3. Coulter is just another dumb, blonde Trump bitch. She has no clue what she is talking about. Those Democrats who supported slavery are now Republicans. Republicans are the ones trying to turn this into a theocracy just like Irean. Republicans attack voting rights in this country. They attack free speech and every other right you can think of. Samuel Alito has signaled that this is the first step in a broad attack on our rights.

Laying Siege to the Institutions

Christopher F. Rufo | April/May 2022

An elite class, representing a small number of people with influence in the knowledge-based institutions, are acting in their own interest and against the interest of the vast majority of the American people—those who are still attached to the idea that America is a force for good and who think, to take just one example, that young children should be protected from the imposition of radical gender ideology.
...
The following is adapted from a speech delivered at Hillsdale College on April 5, 2022, during a two-week teaching residency at Hillsdale as a Pulliam Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Journalism.

Why do I say that we need to lay siege to our institutions? Because of what has happened to our institutions since the 1960s.

The 1960s saw the rise of new and radical ideologies in America that now seem commonplace—ideologies based on ideas like identity politics and cultural revolution. There is a direct line between those ideas born in the ’60s and the public policies being adopted today in leftist-run cities like Seattle, San Francisco, and Chicago.

The leftist dream of a working-class rebellion in America fizzled after the ’60s. By the mid-1970s, radical groups like the Black Liberation Army and the Weather Underground had faded from prominence. But the leftist dreamers didn’t give up. Abandoning hope of a Russian-style revolution, they settled on a more sophisticated strategy—waging a revolution not of the proletariat, but of the elites, and specifically of the knowledge elites. It would proceed not by taking over the means of production, but by taking control of education and culture—a strategy that German Marxist Rudi Dutschke, a student activist in the 1960s, called “the long march through the institutions.”

This idea is traceable to Italian communist Antonio Gramsci, who wrote in the 1930s of “capturing the culture via infiltration of schools, universities, churches, and the media by transforming the consciousness of society.”

This march through our institutions, begun a half-century ago, has now proved largely successful. Over the past two years, I’ve looked at the federal bureaucracy, the universities, K-12 schools, and big corporations. And what I’ve found is that the revolutionary ideas of the ’60s have been repackaged, repurposed, and injected into American life at the institutional level.

Most Americans are shocked to discover this. We’ve all seen the outrage of parents over the past two years as they learned that their young children were being divided according to their skin color and deemed oppressed or oppressors in public school classrooms. Parents began expressing their outrage against critical race theory not only in school board meetings, but at the polls. This made big news in last year’s gubernatorial election in Virginia, and the demographic of the now-widespread voter rebellion shows that it crosses party lines.
...
The lesson I’ve drawn from reporting on institutions that promote ideologies such as critical race theory and radical gender theory is that they have been captured at the structural level and can’t be reformed from within. So the solution is not a long counter-march through the institutions. You can’t replace bad directors of diversity, equity, and inclusion with good ones. The ideology is baked in. That’s why I call for a siege strategy.

This means, first, that you have to be aggressive. You have to fight on terms that you define. In responding to opponents of the Florida bill, for instance, don’t argue against “teaching diversity and inclusion,” but against sexualizing young children. And don’t pull your punches. We will never win if we play by the rules set by the elites who are undermining our country. We can be polite and lose every battle or we can be impolite and actually deliver results for the great majority of Americans who are fighting for their small businesses, fighting for their jobs, fighting for their families.

Second, you have to mobilize popular support. This requires ripping the veil off of what our institutions are doing through real investigation and reporting so that Americans can make informed choices. We live in an information society, and if we don’t get the truth out, we will never gain traction against the narratives being constantly refashioned and pushed by the Left.
...

(Clue; this is what is meant by "The Deep State".)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clue: There is no deep state and you are crazy.
This is typical right wing fascism. Republicans want to take us back to the 50s and 60s because they see their political power diminishing. It is Republicans who want to attack anything they do not agree with. There is racism in this country and the Republican party is evidence of this. We have seen the shootings in Buffalo by a 18 year old who sounds exactly like Republican politicians. There have been more3 people killed by right wing white supremacists than Islamic terrorists. Republicans attempt to terrorize people who are gay or transgender. This is radical Christian nationalism.
Republicans have also criticized the don't say gay bill as well.
Some prominent LGBTQ Republicans have also come out against Florida's controversial law. Sarah Longwell, the publisher of the conservative news site The Bulwark and a staunchly anti-Trump Republican, wrote an opinion article for The Washington Post in mid-March criticizing the GOP-backed legislation.
"The bill never clarifies what 'instruction' means. Is 'instruction' everything a teacher says in the classroom? We likely won't know until parents start suing teachers under this law, and the courts establish what constitutes 'instruction' by a teacher vs. what is an organic conversation that acknowledges that gay and trans people exist in the world—and sometimes they are part of our families," Longwell, who has two sons with her wife, wrote for the Post.
"SO ON WHOM or what do we bestow the title of the "evil empire's" killer? Was it Mikhail Gorbachev himself who pulled down what Lenin and Stalin had built up? It is tempting to finger Gorbachev, but this would ascribe too much wisdom and foresight to a man who wanted merely to reform, but not to relinquish, the empire. At no point, however, did Gorbachev want to yield Moscow's pride of place as the number two superpower. And he was blissfully confident that the risks were tolerable: "There is no reason to fear the collapse or the end of socialism", Gorbachev assured Romanian leader Nicolae Ceausescu three weeks after the Berlin Wall had been breached and three weeks before the Romanian dictator was executed by his own people.
Reagan was made from far sterner stuff than was his Soviet counterpart. His genial grin and wise-cracking demeanor concealed a spine of steel when push came to shove. Yet at their next meeting in Reykjavik in 1986, where Gorbachev would not budge on the "Star Wars" question, Reagan was decisive and unforgiving. He recalls in An American Life how he stood up from the table to proclaim that the meeting was over. Then he turned to his Secretary of State: "Let's go, George. We're leaving." Like any good diplomat, Shultz was crushed by so much roughness, but Reagan was completely unfazed. Later on, he explained: "I went to Reykjavik determined that everything was negotiable except two things, our freedom and our future."
The American economy was also made from sterner stuff than Gorbachev's collapsing command economy. After the faux prosperity of the 1970s, fueled by skyrocketing oil prices and infusions of Western loans, the Soviet economy went into a terminal tail spin while its U.S. counterpart turned on its afterburners…The supply-siders were upset by the heavy government spending, the Left by the government's retraction from the economy through deregulation. Miraculously, growth returned after the stagnation of the 1970s while inflation did not."
Ronald Reagan was a great President who saw the Soviet Union as the evil empire. He did not praise the Soviet leadership the way Donald Trump praises Putin. Ronald Reagan would never be a part of the Trump Republican Party which is the party of hate.
Reagan saved the average man from the destruction Democrats instituted in the economy....much like the current Demorcrats.
For your edification:
And the tax cuts of the Economic Recovery Act of 1981 stimulated economic growth. “As a 1982 JEC study pointed out,[1] similar across-the-board tax cuts had been implemented in the 1920s as the Mellon tax cuts, and in the 1960s as the Kennedy tax cuts. In both cases the reduction of high marginal tax rates actually increased tax payments by "the rich," also increasing their share of total individual income taxes paid.” http://www.house.gov/jec/fiscal/tx-grwth/reagtxct/reagtxct.htm
While the ranks of the wealthy quickly multiplied, middle-class investors also entered the stock market in rapidly growing numbers. The creation by Congress in 1978 of the 401(k) tax-deferred retirement plan provided new incentives for workers to invest their savings in the stock market (often through mutual funds) rather than relying on company-funded pensions for retirement. The 401(k) led to a kind of democratization of Wall Street, as the percentage of American households owning some stake in the stock market—either directly or through mutual funds—shot quickly from 15.9% in 1983 to 29.6% in 1989.23 Thus the great bull market of the 1980s created more wealth, for more American families, than any previous boom in history.
Reaganomics Beats Obama’s ‘Middle Class Economics’ By A Country Mile
In the first five years of the Reagan recovery, the economy grew 4.6% a year on average. Under Obama, it’s been a paltry 2.2%.
Employment had climbed more than 18% by this point in Reagan’s recovery. Under Obama, it’s a mere 7.2%.
Looked at another way, the growth gap between Obama’s economic policies and Reagan’s is now $2.4 trillion in lost GDP and a stunning 14.4 million in lost jobs.
Obama hasn’t just underperformed Reagan, he’s underperformed every president since the Great Depression.
Consider the fact that in the past five years, real annual GDP growth hasn’t once reached 3% — which is the average growth rate, including recessions, from 1945 through 2009. If you strip out years when the economy contracted, the average growth rate is more than 4%.
