The Swiss banning EV's

Switzerland,

Thank you.

EVs are not even enviro friendly, and net net use more energy...

Maybe in the future that will improve...

But today, the subsidized EV is an overpriced disaster for idiot morons who parrot and could not pass a high school science course if their lives depended on it...

Electric vehicles have become popular over the past few years. But EVs could take a significant hit based on what’s happening in Switzerland.

According to a report in the Telegraph on Saturday, the country is considering emergency measures in case of an electricity supply shortage this winter.

Switzerland — the best country in the world according to a recent analysis from US News & World Report — could shorten store operating hours, lower the thermostats at buildings, and limit the private use of electric cars to “absolutely necessary journeys.”

These proposed measures haven’t been passed into law just yet. But they serve as a reminder that electricity doesn’t magically appear at every wall outlet — and EVs don't run on fairy dust.

So, they haven't done anything yet and what they are thinking about doing would only take effect IF there were energy shortages, brought on by the shortage of petroleum. So the problem here isn't really an issue concerning EVs, it's another shortcoming of relying on petroleum that can dry up on Putin's whim.

If the Swiss had more wind and solar resources, this wouldn't have happened.

Replacing ICE vehicles with EV’s requires electricity generation and transmission infrastructures to be doubled to meet the increase use of electricity. That doesn’t happen magically.

Trying to make the switch without the needed infrastructure is fubar.

But that ISN'T why the Swiss are considering telling EV owners to leave them at home in case of an energy shortage. And it's not as if EVs use of electricity was an unknown.

But it is. Not securing their energy supply for electricity generation when they know it’s going to eventually double is part of the problem. None of the nations have a plan in place for how they will accomplish their aims.

Irellevant point as per usual......Oz stuff. You missed the entire point of the article. Drrrr

Only deep matrix bubble dwellers think Putin the issue. Germans finding out the hard way as we speak. :iyfyus.jpg: . Burning coal now like there's no tomorrow!

Bottom line.......the planet is decades away from solar/wind providing energy to western nations. Decades....not debatable. Nothing will change that. Only the unicorn chasers think otherwise.....very clear from the pronounced lack of traffic in this forum from people embracing AGW.

You could cover the country with windmills and you wouldn't produce enough electricty.

The article is wrong. EVs won't take a hit because of what's happening in Switzerland.

EVs in Switzerland are taking a hit because of what is happening everywhere else.

Spontaneous fires, outlandish maintenance costs, the impracticality of charging times, and the impact they have on already overburdened utilities have the ever-practical Swiss saying, "Thank you, but no", to the impractical vehicles powered solely by smugness.

sure it is. It's called extra electricity on their grid. YOu are truly shallow.
