How is putting Russia in the G7 corruption? thats more like putting your possible enemy who is also a major nuclear power out in the open where you can deal with them. It's more like stepping away from going into another cold war with them. Then again YOU and I are not privy to every bit of information that people on capitol hill and the Whitehouse have when it comes to foreign relations.
As for the Ukraine, they are a rather large country right next to Russia who is also a very important ally.
