actually...Bush has recently revised his definition of "success" in Iraq to be "less violence"....so clearly, we will leave Iraq before the fighting has completely stopped under even the most hawkish of scenarios. Will that be surrender then?

And you seem to suggest that it is the "telling of the moment of departure" which makes said departure a "surrender". Do you honestly think that, if we left under cover of darkness without telling anyone beforehand, the bad guys couldn't figure it out on their own by about noon of the next day? Don't you think it is a better idea, in terms of the Iraqi government and military, to give them a target date at which time they need to be ready to carry the load? If we left "without telling anyone" - thus avoiding your definition of "surrender", don't you think that the Iraqi government and military would be caught off guard by such a move?
