The republicans are brilliant

They way that they passed this tax reform bill, repealing just the mandated tax penalty for not having insurance, was brilliant beyond measure. It ensures that the liberals can't say that republicans cost anyone their health care. Because simply repealing the mandate ensures that anyone that is only on Obamacare because of the tax penalty has the right to leave.

Meaning....everyone who "loses" insurance because of it lost it of their own free will. It will also all but ensure that Obamacare will collapse under its own weight when millions back out because they don't want it anyway.

If a program is only successful because you punish anyone who doesn't participate, is it really successful at all?

Unbelievably smart.

Unbelievably stupid. So what you are going to have is people buying insurance ONLY IF THEY ARE SICK. You see, when you tell insurance companies they can't refuse treatment and can't disqualify people for pre-existing conditions, you've pretty much set up a situation where people can buy car insurance AFTER they've had an accident.

Yep. It's another situation like EMTALA. Ridiculous mandates inevitably require more ridiculous mandates to prop them up. Until we're all up to our assholes in a wall of government mandates.

We are well past our rear ends in stupid mandates.

You don't buy insurance when you get sick. At that point, it is no longer insurance. It is a subsidy to have others pay for what you knowlingly have.

The real issue here, as I see it, is that we have a growing class of people who are are less capable in a world where compensation is given to those who can produce. The problem being that those less capable people are required to buy health care in our inflated system.

They can't do that.

Yeah, imagine a world where you can choose to have no fucking health insurance. What a great world that is.

Yes, you have a govt that pays MORE per capita on healthcare than the UK with the NHS and you can actually CHOOSE no healthcare, while those suckers in the UK pay LESS and they're forced to actually have permanent healthcare coverage.

Wouldn't it suck to live in the UK where if you have a medical problem, you can actually get it sorted out even if you're fucking poor. YOU ESS AY! YOU ESS AY! YOU ASS AY! YOU ASS AY! YOU ASS HOLE!

The U.K. operates under a set of societal codes that include health care.

The U.S. does not. Consequently, health insurance and health care in the U.S. is different.

The U.K. is not without it's issues, just like Canada.

The U.S certainly has issues. Issues we don't seem interested in addressing.

Single payer in the U.S. will never happen. It can't. The insurance industry won't let it.

I think you are a bit confused. The problem isn't that those who produce are compensated. We have college professors on food stamps and airline pilots selling their blood plasma. If the wealth were evenly distributed, we wouldn't have a poverty.

The problem is that the lower 40% of the populace has less than 1% of the wealth, while the top 1% have 43% of the wealth. The top 20% have 87% of the wealth. And they want more.

There's more than enough money spent on Health care. We spend 17% of our GDP on it while other countries spend 8-11%. It's just that most our money goes to activities that add no value to the quality of care.

Used to be, you spent a couple days in the hospital after giving birth, and when you had a colonoscopy, you checked in a day early so they could get you prepared.

Now it's all Outpatient and Drive-through procedures.

Yep, the US pays a lot more for a lot less.

Republicans should champion Obamacare, government subsidized health insurance. Republicans should work to expand Obamacare to replace medicare and medicare, while decriminalization competition so that prices can fall.

But, most Republicans have shit for brains.

And you lost to them in 2016....BIG TIME.

What does that say about you ?

Lost by a maybe 40,000 votes. If you think it was "BIG TIME" then you're wrong.

They were supposed to wipe him out.

They were supposed to take the senate.

They lost the SCOTUS by that alone.

They made few gains in the house.

YES THEY LOST BIG TIME

Well, you carry on believing.

The reality is that in this system, neither side really loses, they might not have the president or the senate, but they're still selling themselves to the highest bidder and making a ton of money out of it. Democracy? No thanks, we're American.

O.K.

Can you say Niel Gorsuch ?

He alone, made the victory huge.

And no...I don't want a democracy. Neither did the founders.

No they didn't they said it was a tax , republicans repealed the tax

You have two clauses, and two ignorant statements. I bet if you had three clauses, you'd have three ignorant statements.

The federal government fines people for not having health insurance. It doesn't make any difference if the fine is called a tax, it's still a penalty for not buying insurance.

The Republicans didn't repeal the penalty. They only reduced the fine amount to zero. The difference is that the zero-rate can expire and the penalty return.

Liar you don't have a clue, it made all the difference in the world to define the mandate as a tax ...otherwise it would not have been legal

And 2 yup they repealed the tax..

Take your revisionist history bullshit to another forum.

Well, telling people you HAVE to buy insurance is not legal.

the Supreme Court says it was.

The court said it was legal to call it a tax. It was a wolf in sheeps clothing.

The supreme court at the time leaned left bigtime, and then it only passed 5-4. Now the court is much more conservative.

Think it would fly today? Me thinks not.

The first thing republicans did was remove the mandate. That was the only flotation device keeping Obamadontcare above water.

Trumps first EO

Try to pass a tax Bill in the future that includes the mandate tax ...

Elimination of federal penalty for not having health insurance may mean addition of state mandates

His fucking first EO didn't mean a damn thing he cannot change legislation through an EO.
