The republicans are brilliant

If a woman has the right to choose to have an abortion or not, then people can have the right to choose health insurance or not. I say FUCK THE POOR, after 22 trillion dollars spent on the poor, and today after 8 years of the 1/2 white community agitator we have even more poor.. Stop paying the POOR to stay poor and the poor will look for a job...

Except, again, the government pays middle class people more to not work than they pay the "poor" not to work.

They way that they passed this tax reform bill, repealing just the mandated tax penalty for not having insurance, was brilliant beyond measure. It ensures that the liberals can't say that republicans cost anyone their health care. Because simply repealing the mandate ensures that anyone that is only on Obamacare because of the tax penalty has the right to leave.

Meaning....everyone who "loses" insurance because of it lost it of their own free will. It will also all but ensure that Obamacare will collapse under its own weight when millions back out because they don't want it anyway.

If a program is only successful because you punish anyone who doesn't participate, is it really successful at all?

Unbelievably smart.
It was very successful. That's why so many Trump voters are freaking out over what he is doing to their families.

So that’s your solution to healthcare? You don’t have to have it and now the costs are going to skyrocket? Sad sacks
my solution is to serve time in the military, retire and enjoy the benefits.

Not the same thing.

Better start reading the memos more closely.

Um, yeah, the memo was pretty clear. We aren't going to let people die in the street of treatable diseases because they are poor. And this was signed by that Commie, Ronald Reagan.

Now, EMTALA does cause problems. 55% of Emergency room visits go uncompensated, which is why hospitals charge the paying customers things like $100.00 for an aspirin.

That would work if the people who "choose" to not get health insurance were refused treatment. But they aren't. They can show up at an emergency room and get treated, and the costs are spread across to the rest of us who do the responsible thing and buy insurance.

Yep. EMTALA was an ill-considered, unfunded mandate that should never have been passed. So repeal it. Don't pile on with more ill-considered, unfunded mandates. Two wrongs don't make a right.

When Ann Coulter criticizes the republicans and their tax for the rich you know we have entered fantasy land USA.

"When the Titanic struck an iceberg, the crew might have rushed to the storeroom, grabbed the materials and spruced up the ship with a shiny new coat of paint. Women in their beautiful fur coats could stand on deck, admiring the lustrous sheen, as everyone pointed to it saying, “What a thing of beauty!”

Word has now reached us that congressional Republicans have passed tax reform. Everyone is standing around admiring the lustrous sheen, pointing to it and saying, “what a thing of beauty!”

The iceberg is immigration and the Titanic is our country." Ann Coulter

Ann Coulter goes off on Trump over taxes, saying he delivered his 'worst, most tone-deaf speech'

Do you think no one checks your links out? Aug 30, 2017. Really? Are you that desperate or just that stupid?

Uh no, it wasn't.

ER's treat conditions....not diseases.

Get a grip.

Yeah, imagine a world where you can choose to have no fucking health insurance. What a great world that is.

Couldn't agree more. A government that sells us out to corporations can go to hell!

So, time to support Proportional Representation AND be very vocal about it. Because the current form of voting is just like lambs choosing between this slaughter house or that one.

No, EMTALA was a great law. It was the right thing to do, because we had too many horror stories of people dying in ER's because no one could find their insurance card.

What we should do is go to single payer. Since we won't do that, the Mandate was probably the best "Free market Republican Solution" out there.

Whether or not there was really a problem, besides "horror stories", is debatable. But that has no bearing on whether EMTALA was a good or bad law. EMTALA was, and is, an unfunded mandate. Congress was too chickenshit to raise taxes to pay for guaranteed ER access, so they just pointed at hospitals and said "make it so". That's the worst sort of authoritarian government.

What we should do is go to single payer.

Tell that to the Democrats who passed ACA. They had the chance to do just that, but they fucked you blind. And you're back for more!

I do, I am. But that doesn't change the fact the idiots like you are convinced we need more insurance - that we should even resort to forcing people to buy it. That's fucked up.

Yes, you have a govt that pays MORE per capita on healthcare than the UK with the NHS and you can actually CHOOSE no healthcare, while those suckers in the UK pay LESS and they're forced to actually have permanent healthcare coverage.

Yep, the US pays a lot more for a lot less.

Republicans should champion Obamacare, government subsidized health insurance. Republicans should work to expand Obamacare to replace medicare and medicare, while decriminalization competition so that prices can fall.

But, most Republicans have shit for brains.

Unbelievably stupid. So what you are going to have is people buying insurance ONLY IF THEY ARE SICK. You see, when you tell insurance companies they can't refuse treatment and can't disqualify people for pre-existing conditions, you've pretty much set up a situation where people can buy car insurance AFTER they've had an accident.

The Obamacare penalty doesn't go to zero for two years. So, Congress has two years address the issue of pre-existing conditions.

The best solution is to make Obamacare universal, thus making uncovered people a non-issue (except for immigrants) The shithead Republicans have suggested allowing insurance companies to charge double the first year for people who come to them without existing coverage.

Yep. It's another situation like EMTALA. Ridiculous mandates inevitably require more ridiculous mandates to prop them up. Until we're all up to our assholes in a wall of government mandates.

Only if you are a libertarian child who still regrets someone making him sit in a corner when he was five.

Adults realize, you need to do things you don't like to live in a civilized society.

Um, actually, ACA had absolutely no effect on my life. I had insurance before ACA and after.

Here's what really changed after ACA. The annual meeting we had where the HR Cow announced how our insurance would cost more and cover less this year... We stopped having those meetings after ACA.
