The Psychology of MAGA

Sounds like you found a solution for yourself. Not for everyone. That's what makes this world so wonderful.. That's what made this country great too but it's fading fast under trump.

Well if I found others for it and we joined for our separate community, it might be a solution then, for me and for those with me. But who else? Yet freedom is fading quickly and totalitarianism is growing quickly, and more will be in for a surprise later when it grows obvious enough that they will see, but after it affects others already, with Trump in office now. It will not return to what we thought was normal even when he dies, as he is in his old age.

Agreed , and trump's end result will be that he has changed the US and the world for the worse. Hoich worse is yet to be determined.

If we were to identify ourselves as MAGA and non-MAGA (which includes Americans across the political spectrum), perhaps we can all agree on one thing:

MAGAs appear to get enjoyment -- real enjoyment -- out of seeing non-MAGAs in some kind of distress over MAGA's actions. They cheer on Trump's constant insults and trolling, JD Vance's attacks on our former European allies, reactions to news of the rapid dismantling of the government, the release of violent Capitol criminals. They celebrate it.

So I got to wondering what this is, from a psychological perspective, and I asked Chat GPT (which is pretty freaking amazing if you haven't tried it) "is there a psychological term for a person who enjoys being disliked?"

Here's what I got:

Yes, there are several psychological concepts that could explain why someone might want to be disliked:
  1. Counterdependency – A defense mechanism where a person deliberately pushes others away or resists attachment, sometimes by behaving in a way that makes them disliked.
  2. Masochistic Personality Traits – Some individuals may have a subconscious desire to create situations where they are rejected or disliked, deriving a sense of validation or control from negative treatment.
  3. Rebellious or Oppositional Behavior (Oppositional Defiant Disorder - ODD) – Some people, especially in childhood or adolescence, may act in ways that provoke negative reactions as a way of asserting control or defiance.
  4. Self-Sabotaging Behavior – Rooted in low self-esteem or deep-seated beliefs of unworthiness, some individuals may seek out disapproval as a way to confirm negative self-perceptions.
  5. Inferiority Complex – A person with an inferiority complex may act in a way that provokes dislike as a means of reinforcing their own negative self-view.
  6. Schadenfreude-Seeking (Reverse Narcissism) – Some people enjoy being disliked because it gives them a sense of power or uniqueness, as if they are above social norms or expectations.
  7. Martyr Complex – A person with a martyr complex may subconsciously desire rejection or dislike to feel morally superior or to justify a belief that the world is against them.

Interesting analysis on why leftwingers want to be disliked.

On the MAGA side, it's more of an understanding that certain things need to be done and that the embedded leftwing power structure will do everything possible to destroy those making the necessary difference. It's not something we embrace, but we understand the organized effort to oppose it. The comforting thing for MAGA is we know the things we do are intended to help others, whereas the forces against us are out for their own enrichment only.

Here we have another so called psychologist who thinks he can use AI to support his bias. Every assumption is wrong and a generalization. Then the examples apply to individuals only. So what we have is the typical left wing thinker to attack the personalities of those who disagree with them.

"MAGAs appear to get enjoyment -- real enjoyment -- out of seeing non-MAGAs in some kind of distress over MAGA's actions."

Enjoyment? Got any research? Thats just your unqualified opinion. None of your examples indicate enjoyment.
What you display is the need to attack the character of those you dont agree with which is reflection of who you are. You cant produce facts to support your beliefs.

We had 4 years of a seriously impaired Biden who was a total failure. He was so poor his own party removed him from running as he decompensated at the debate. Then they appointed Harris who cant articulate thought who picked Tim Walz as VP who is involved in the worst scandal in American history. When has a party ever acted out of simple stupidity.

Trump gets elected and in 12 months everything is better. Now you have to face the failure of your beliefs.

When I matured to adulthood, I stopped caring about whether I was "liked" or not. If someone doesn't like me the way I am, that is their issue not mine.
Largely agree , but hopefully you at least questioned yourself and your judgement to be sure you weren't part of a bigger problem because of some of the things you do. Self examination helps a person.contomue to grow., death is total maturity , ready or not , in this life..

Do you mean like supporting a political party that actively works against the best interests of Americans and for the best interests of illegal aliens? Or supporting a political party that uses it's Media control to inflame hatred and divide the country? Or supporting a political party that demonizes all forms of law enforcement?

Listening to propaganda doesn't make for good judgment.

Of course. I often question myself but don't change unless I'm way off base. Doesn't happen often.

trump is one of the world's worst human beings , can't expect anything good to come from him.
Yeah, those highly productive billionaires who employ 20,000 people are terrible.
Your people, illegals, atheists, homosexuals, degenerates, chicks with dicks, weirdos, and unconventionals are way better for a society.

15th post
I agree. That is why you should stop listening to CNN to get your thoughts for the day.
I don't , and you shouldn't listen to trump. He's not a reliable source for anything good.

Trump will and has changed the world for the worse for the worlds worse human beings…I agree with you.
/----/ How is securing the border, freeing 30 million from Maduro's dictatorship, blowing drug traffickers out of the water, extending the tax cuts, and rebuilding the military changing the world for the worse?
