The Medicaid Cuts in "The Big Beautiful Bill": An Honest Discussion

Sounds cruel but when push comes to shove? remeber 09-13 (they got rich took luxury vacations, "we" were made jobless/homeless).

Then deep state Flu crisis, they never ran out of Charmin in the Capitol but millions were killed off in blue state shutdown GOVT behind closed doors. And we used scrap paper from the work copier.
I don’t remember 2009-13 being that terrible and I had toilet paper throughout the pandemic; and I’m definitely not part of the elite class.

In fact the pandemic gave me something I never thought I’d get… Work From Honey; which I’m still doing most of the time.

Precisely what it says, John, don't invite confusion with opaque statements like that.
Except this is another Republican example of solving a problem...that doesn't exist.
Most Medicaid recipients..already work. Some more than one job.

Please identify those Dr. PP. LOL
If you would have read every response in this thread besides OP there is one other that admitted to being on Medicaid. Not a problem if they're are disabled or over 60 if they are poor, BUT and a big but one of them that commented in first couple pages has bragged about how much he travels by plane inside and outside of country. Now, you tell me why this person, if they can afford to fly all over the GD place, deserves to be on Medicaid.

Using the word "cuts" to describe a revision of the Medicaid program that would require able bodied recipients to work and denying Medicaid to non citizens who are illegally in the Country is hardly the basis of an honest discussion. As a matter of fact it is dishonest and biased.

Link?

Its spun so hard that its hard to determine truth from untruth. Theres nowhere in the greatest nation on earth to find the facts. We will see what happens. I have my doubts. Stuff it.

WTF you mean link? Goddamn they posted in this thread and said they were on Medicaid and if you don't know which one has bragged about flying all over the GD place that is your problem. I'll give you a hint he used to be a democrat but left that party years ago and is MAGA now.

LOL, I don't troll every poster on this board. Link to the post that they claim to be a MAGA on medicaid. You're big on slander, not so much on source. Back your assertion.

People pay i to Medicare and SS. While some think they're bad, they cost very little budget wise.
Let's see how this works out. Remember. Progressives live on the stage.

On the stage of what?...you don't seem to be able to convey a cogent point. Get back on your meds.
And do the board a favor. Contribute something worthwhile...pretty please??? :)

The work requirement is only 80 hours per month. That's 20 hours per week.

Not to mention that other activities besides working a regular job can meet that 80 Hour requirement:

First of all community service counts, so you can pick up trash along the road. No one can say they cannot meet the work requirement because are unemployable. Dr. Phosphorous, you get that part? 80 hours per month, not 60 hours per week.

What is a "work program?" likely some kind of job training program, or job search program.

Education? So you get medicaid for being a student.

Or - if you have a gig that requires less than 80 hours per week, but pays more than minimum wage at a 80 hours per week.

These requirements don't seem that hard to meet. Maybe for some they are. They would likely fall under these mandatory excemptions:

I would say that these exemption categories would cover the majority of people in Medicaid now. My concern is not that this work requirement is too harsh, but that it is so lenient that the predicted savings may not be realized.

Why is anyone complaining about this?

Hypocrite lefties refuse to use the word "cuts" as in tax cuts in the beautiful bill but they use the word "cuts" to describe an effort to end the criminal abuse of Medicaid. Unconscious propaganda or deliberate bias?

I hope it does. Also all veterans should receive full Medicaid benefits which would not add to the cost.

Well well, Aren't you a special one unaffected? 10% laid off in CA was no laughing matter. 15 million nationwide. Many for years. Lost homes, families, divorces, suicides. Yes it was real.
GOVT flew to Copenhagen early on GW hogwash, raises, never missed a beat hiring 1000 per dat as we suffered. They just ran up debt.

According to the media millions died. Tens of thousands in nursing homes in secret during flu ctaze. Many at my work also found work from home. Most forced back in by last yr. I worked on site 100% everyday no mask. The equipment iI need to use is there. Commute was a breeze two years peaceful.

Again....most Medicaid recipients already meet this requirement.....so...what is the problem the GOP is trying to fix?

Yeah, there is no problem. This is just culling the low hanging fruit to give wealthy people and corps their big tax cuts...:(
