Catholics seeking/giving forgiveness as healing for both victim and sinner. The healing for the victim is release from resentment, revenge, planning additional personal retribution. It is where we join God in his infinite mercy of forgiving humanity. This does not mean consequences should be/are taken away because justice is also a part of who God is and what we should maintain as well.

The reason the sins you describe are particularly horrendous is because one cannot escape the scene of the crime--which is the body. I believe it is/was the Hopi who had a ceremony for this, the cleansing of the body.

Forgiveness is as much--if not more--for the victim as it is for sinner.

I was once in a position where I could not possibly forgive a person of his sin--so I asked God to forgive this sin for me until I was strong enough to extend my own forgiveness. That simple act of handing what I could not do over to God was healing/blessing in itself. Years went by before I was able to add my own forgiveness to God's--and that was fine. Additional beauty was added when I, too, could contribute my own forgiveness to forgiveness that had already taken place.
