Jesus taught repentance (turning away from committing the sin) for the forgiveness of sins. He also taught that we should forgive those who ask for forgiveness as many time as they ask us for forgiveness.

Ill give you a real life example. I had a patient who was a survivor of Gary Heidrick. He kidnaped children sexually abused them killed them and made others eat the dead ones. My patient had to watch his execution because only then could she feel safe. She will never forgive him
