'You shall have no other gods before Me.'

Does that mean as long as God is your top rated god having other gods is fine?

Puede ser.
Worship the master of terrorizzzm and then just kiss the others.
What is the best glue to use when building an ark ?
Word is that the nutjob wants to wipe everything out again.
Praise Jesus.

It suggests that the people who worshiped that faith probably believed there were other Gods, doesn't it?

For surely if the belief was that there was truly only one GOD, and not just one GOD for those people, then telling the faithful:

"Thou shall have no other GODS before me"

would be pointless.

As long He was numero uno He didn't care

I don't think so but give it a shot and let us know how it works out.

Ahh but since I worship no religion I would love to let you know how it turns out.
Watch for me on ghost hunters. :doubt:

500 year old translation.

From context, it seems that the meaning is don't go sneaking off and worshiping other goods when you think I'm not looking, because I am.

Also the king james committee seemed more interested in sonorous than accurate.

again----as long as the minor 'gods' played second fiddle he doesn't care.

that is what it says and as long as worshipping the lesser gods does not conflict with the other commandments I would assume.

Actually, from context, he cared a lot.

The whole deal of the golden calf really pissed him off.

Hey now I saw Charlton Heston chip out exactly what god told him.

One could get all symbolic and interpret other gods as thigs like money or power. I imagine God is pretty deep.

In Egyptian? Which got translated to Aramaic? And from there to archaic English?

that is because it had become numero uno god.

They had to melt it down and make the ark I think.

Never hurts to read the relevant text if you are going to argue about its meaning.

It is very clear that there is one Gd, you don't go sneaking around chasing other ones.

You don't do idols, you don't make gods of things.
