VATICAN CITY — Pope Leo boldly proclaimed today that God does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, so long as you don't count King David, or Joshua, or Gideon, or Samson, or Elijah, or Hezekiah, or any of those other people in the Bible.

Pope Leo further stated that you must also not count Saint Joan of Arc, Saint George, or any of the other Christian warriors who prayed to God.

"God will never answer the prayers of those waging war," declared Pope Leo. "That is, if you ignore that bit in the Bible about God answering Moses' prayer when Israel battled the Amalekites. And the bit about David's prayer before facing Goliath. And the bit about God answering Joshua's prayer when he marched on Jericho. And the bit about God answering Gideon's prayer when he fought the Midianites. And the bit about God answering Elijah's prayer at the showdown against the prophets of Baal. And the bit about God answering those Psalm prayers that King David composed when he was at war. And all the other bits in the Bible too."

The Pope assured listeners that other than those slight exceptions, God definitely does not listen to the prayers of those engaged in war. "The Lord otherwise will never, ever listen to those who wage battle," said Pope Leo. "Of course, not counting when God answered Saint Joan of Arc's prayers at Orleans . Or Saint George, don't count him either. Oh, or Saint Cornelius, or Saint Sebastian, or any of those guys. Oh, and not anyone operating under Just War Theory as defined by Saint Thomas Aquinas. But, yeah, other than that."

At publishing time, Pope Leo had clarified that you should also probably not count any modern Christian generals like George Washington and General Patton who fought Hitler, just to be safe.

Yep, they should just have surrendered to the Mohammedans rather than win great victories at Vienna or the Battle of Lepanto.

The Pope isn't the pope of the Old Testament. Otherwise he would be calling for the stoning of many which would also deal with the issue he is condemning.

I don't think any of the people mentioned by the OP started wars.

Simply see any of these PopEyes as modern day stand-up comedians and join in the laughter .

Cult Abrahamic Religions are founded on good old violence and brutality .
Preferably followed by a decent drought , famine or deadly disease .

Why is this PopEye tampering with a winning formula ?

He was such an angry God. Then he had a son, and mellowed out a bit.......

"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do"

Great points.

On matters of religion, obviously Popes are perfectly fallible.

In August 1953, the Shah of Iran removed his prime minister, Mohamad Mosaddeq, from his office. The prime minister, who served at the pleasure of the Shah, was in the midst of leading a Marxist-inspired revolution to topple the constitutional monarchy of Iran. Contrary to the story often told, Mosaddeq was not removed in any coup. Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi determined his prime minister was a threat to the Iranian constitution and legitimately chose to remove him as the head of his government. It was Mosaddeq’s revolutionary actions and unwillingness to follow the Shah’s command that forced the military to support the Shah’s defense of the constitution.

...

It should come as no surprise that a false narrative surrounding Mosaddeq’s removal developed almost immediately. Reality, however, is far different. Mohammad Mosaddeq was legitimately removed from power for attempting to topple the constitutional monarchy on behalf of the Soviet-supported Tudeh party. American and British support was exactly what the Shah required to restore the constitution. The ultimate collapse of the Shah’s government and its replacement with an Islamic fundamentalist theocracy is a tragedy the United States regrets even to this day.

Worse, they are all one Left wing group think it seems.

PC is their religion of choice.

Just like the DNC took away the nomination of Joe Biden for President in the dark of night?

I don't recall in the dark of the night......pretty stupid whenever it was done.

Interesting fact, Trump was democratically elected by the people, yet if the DNC could, they would impeach him again in a heartbeat not caring that he was democratically elected.

I never argued he wasn't. I condemned the (D)'s attempts.

So do you have a point?
