The End of Democracy Has Already Begun

It's funny how Democrats can be called Hamas supporters but that's not name-calling or insults.
Well, when it's factual it isn't name calling. It's merely stating a fact.

We are looking at a situation that we have not seen. We have a president who refuses to follow the decisions of the court, has committed multiple unconstitutional acts, and yet if anyone states the obvious here, they are censored. It has seemed to be fine that on today, there are multiple threads saying that Democrats are not Americans, support Hamas, or do not support America, but to state that the end of democracy has come under this president gets cancelled.

The End of Democracy Has Already Begun

The corruption of democracy begins with the corruption of thought—and with the deliberate undermining of reality. Stephen Richer, an election official in Arizona, and Adam Kinzinger, a former Republican congressman, learned firsthand how easily false stories and conspiracy theories could disorient their colleagues. They talk with hosts Anne Applebaum and Peter Pomerantsev about how conformism and fear made it impossible to do their jobs.

This is the first episode of Autocracy in America, a new five-part series about authoritarian tactics already at work in the United States and where to look for them.

We have one person here who has challenged anyone to try starting a revolution. But he was fine with what happened 1-6 over a lie told by the current president. One side does not determine what is American. In a free society, there will e transgendered people, gay people and others who might not fit the so called norm. Allowing people to be free enough to do this is what separates us from Sharia law. It is time the rightwing fundamentalists learned this. You have the freedom to rightwing fundamentalists all you want, but you do not have the right to force everybody else to live by your fundamentalism. You have the right to be a racist, at home and in your private social settings, but you do not have the right to enforce your racism on everybody else. This attitude by a group of Americans must be put in its place, and its place is on the fringes, not mainstream.
OH NO......

Anyway.

Give a tiny credit to IQ -2.0
He blindly accepts being a laughing stock .
Possibly suffers from the "Love being the Idiot " syndrome .

But whatever his illness , he marches on , oblivious to the ridicule and laughter .
Like a lame Elelephant walking off the cliff edge every day and landing on his now flattened nose every time .

Never learns anything and now talks through his bottom . Literally

It began eight years ago but voters reversed in last November. A CNN poll after the election showed that out of the voters whose number one reason for voting was to "save democracy", 58% of those voters voted for Trump.

You raise some strong points here. The erosion of democratic norms through election denial, institutional defiance, and ideological conformity is real and well documented. You're right to call out how fear and falsehoods can shape public behavior, and how religious nationalism is being used politically in ways that threaten pluralism.

That said, I wonder if some of the framing here might be overstating things. Saying democracy has already ended might be a bit like declaring the movie over at the midpoint—there’s still a third act, and the ending isn’t written yet. We still have functioning courts, elections, and a press that can challenge power. And while cancel culture can suppress speech, it often cuts in multiple directions and isn’t always top-down.

Still, your core message is important. Democracy doesn’t collapse all at once—it erodes when people stop noticing the small breaks in the foundation. You’re right to draw attention to those cracks, and I appreciate how clearly you laid it all out.
Wel said. Indeed, we do have a chance to save our democracy before it dies, that is true.

The sheep being told if they don't vote or act a certain way we will lose something the US has never been, a Democracy. This country has always been a Constitutional Republic. That is the way the founding Father designed it.

If anyone is a threat to this country it's the idiots on both sides who want more government.

What the U.S. has not been is a dictatorship. Which is what Trump is doing. You are the sheep, you follow and defend a tyrant without thinking. All he has to do is pay to your bigotry.

Nothing began 8 years ago, and it's funny how suddenly you guys believe everything put out by CNN. You trump voters aren't saving democracy..

/—-/ President Trump plays you libtards like a violin.

I see that you are so ill educated that you cannot distinguish accurately between types of people and their allegiancies .

It is the first time in my life as a Contrarian with Fascist trimmings that I have been bracketed with the Left .
You probably have poor eyesight .

You don't know what the meaning of the word tyrant is moron. To you it's anyone you disagree with. I'm not a fan of Trump but calling him a tyrant makes you look petulant and stupid.

ty·rant

1. a cruel and oppressive ruler:
2. a person exercising power or control in a cruel, unreasonable, or arbitrary way:

Look, I get it, things aren't going your way and you call that the end of democracy. Democrats confuse democracy with democrats, thinking they are one in the same thing so that if democrats end, democracy ends. Funny how you guys claim that democracy is over, Trump will be a dictator, and he will take elections away and then you turn right around and say you are looking forward to 2026 and 2028. How can that possibly be if you guys say that democracy was taken away? Down deep, you don't even believe your own lies.

Stupid young boy, things do not just suddenly turn. There is incremental destruction, and we are seeing that right now. Why ignore it day in and day out? Ignoring this will make you ignore events that are way more consequential.
So, when is it complete? I want to make sure I’m stocked up on popcorn.
