Zone1 The big picture

You are making the same uninformed arguments they make, so there's that. The Bible, especially the New Testament (NT), (OT stands for Old Testament) teaches how to live life and how not to live life. That you equate that message to how to get into heaven and stay out of hell is your error. I know better. But yes, I think you are definitely biased not only against the Church but all of Christianity. I never said my belief that you are biased advances my argument. Your bias goes to your motivation. Which seems to be to subvert the Church and Christianity.

What uninformed arguments have I made? It's not like there is any real proof either way of an afterlife. So, it's pretty much all opinion and personal belief, no? Do you have any informed arguments against mine?

Bias is an unfair and unjust judgement, right? What did I say that was either? Do you want to claim that Islam and Judaism do not reserve a heavenly afterlife for their believers and an eternal hell for those who don't?

Your bias goes to your motivation. Which seems to be to subvert the Church and Christianity. Geez dude, you assume a bias and then assume motivation based on your assumption. Your ability to spin a narrative based on nothing is quite impressive.

I have no idea what you are talking about, I did not question your belief system so not sure why your getting
angry and trying to pick a fight, do you do this everybody? anger issues?
Domination Through Damnation

Christofascists have to be irrational and aggressive in defending their irrational self-empowering fantasy.

I think that fear of death comes from a primal instinct to survive, and that most religions have capitalized on that fear in order to spread their messages. Thus "good" means complying with their beliefs. The concept of an afterlife may be as much a control device over actions in this life as an ultimate reward for good behavior.

However, the development of human intelligence seems to be a singularity in the animal world. It is hardly conceivable that one species could fly a man to the moon while all other species never developed beyond basic instinct and mimicry. It also appears that our entire universe had some sort of beginning, which suggests the preexistence of a creative force. We may never fully understand it, but it is not unreasonable to assume some connection with own existence.

Perhaps we will continue after our physical deaths in some individualistic manner or simply return as raindrops, as has been previously suggested. Either way is OK with me.
BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU WATCH HIM ON TV (Tell a Vision)

You lost points in bragging about the moon landing, which was no more than a shiny toy to distract us from the lack of prosperity-gaining development right down here on solid ground. Tying this to the topic, the Christians' comforting visions are the same refusal to glorify the practical, instead of escapist glitter.

What facist things have religions been doing lately?
I wouldn’t worry too much. Something has the militant atheists riled up today. They are on an eternal damnation warpath today.

I just close my eyes and picture angry televangelist getting all worked up.

Geez, Ding. You ain't making a whole lot of sense here. Why the hell do you think the Bible was written? And it seems to me that the Catholic Church has a whole lot of bad history to answer for. But hey, believe whatever you want.

I’m making more sense than you. And given that I have never heard anyone in the Church threaten me with burning in hell, I’m not inclined to believe your rhetoric.

What I have heard - a lot - is how wonderful it is to have a personal relationship with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. And how those relationships enrich our lives in the here and now.

OK, hear me out, all religions major and minor were created by a human.
The overall message is do good you go to a special place, do bad and you to to a horrible place, right?

What if we just cease to exist like a mouse killed by a cat?

No proof we have a soul that moves on, not way to prove it so it's just a theory and nothing more

we are an animal on earth like a bear, just more intelligent....maybe when we die we just die........poof, game over.........nothing

thoughts?
This is just good old Darwinism.

We don't know. Even the most religious of people don't know.

There are some who have had near death experiences and they are most convinced of the afterlife in many cases. There was one guy who told his story and he was really scared. His story wasn't the usual "I saw the light", he explained with complete conviction that he wasn't going to heaven but to some form of hell.

His fear was palpable when he was explaining what he experienced, so convincing was his story that he scared me because I could sense, "this guy is either a REALLY good actor, or he is being honest about what he experienced".

He then told the interviewer just how drastically he changed his approach to life afterwards. He became completely virtuous and kind to the world. He said he prayed aggressively and often. It's amazing how a powerful dream or experience can change someone (I've had one as well which still blows me away when I think about it).

Regardless, no one knows. We can only consider the mystery of life and all the experiences people have had with the the unknown. Whenever someone experiences the unknown they wake up, they see.

With all praise to G-d, I'm in no rush to find out to be honest.
