There might very well BE a split in the GOP.

The old line Republicans seem determined not to embrace the conservative base. The conservative base of the BOP seems determined not to sit back and passively accept the machinations of the main line machine hack politics of the establishment main line (tired and stale) old time GOP elites.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/10/u...ans-mounting-fears-of-lasting-split.html?_r=0

If the old crew really fears a "split," here's something THEY can do. They can accept the fact that the conservative base WILL be demanding an actual voice in the priorities of the GOP. And yes, boys and girls, that DOES mean that the GOP is going to start having to pay a lot more than mere empty lip service to the principles of our Constitutionally LIMITED government.

If the old tired machine politicians of the GOP cannot get the fuck out of the way, then they can simply declare in fact what has become an obvious (sad) reality for so long: they are essentially just limp old Democrats anyway. Move the fuck on. You folks ARE the problem almost as much as cretins like Obumbler and Shrillary and that old communist shitheel, Sanders.

What percentage of the GOP, would you say, are not RINOs?

How the EFF would I know

We live in a world where tools like Fakey Smarmy pretend to be a Republican.

Let's add a complicating factor: There are liars, damn liars and then there are pollsters.

Shrillary has apparent difficulty defining the distinctions between the principles (sic) of the Democrat Parody and the principles of socialism.

I would venture the guess that there are quite a large number of GOP mainstream party hacks (in official positions) who would have some difficulty articulating the main differences between the "position" of the GOP on many issues and the claimed position of the Democrat Parody on those same issues. I do not claim to be able to offer a representative sampling (ala a poll) to back up that speculation.

That's a great question.

Because a RINO used to mean being open to raising taxes.

But now, the base is supporting a guy who wants to raise taxes on the rich, a plan that has drawn praise from Elizabeth Warren and Paul Krugman.

A RINO used to also mean supporting liberal ideas.

But the base is supporting a guy who supports affirmative action and abortion rights.

A RINO used to be someone without conservative principles.

But the base is supporting a guy who was a Democrat less than a decade ago, gave tons of money to Democrats when Pelosi and Reid were in power, and has never been known to financially support any single conservative institution, cause or think tank.

Oh, and he's a known philanderer and is on his third trophy wife.

There is no such thing as a 'RINO,' anyone who says he is a republican is in fact a republican, and is at liberty to register as such in his state of residence.

The divide is between republicans who wish to pursue sound, responsible governance and those who wish to pursue failed, wrongheaded extremist dogma, such as those on the social right, TPM dullards, and 'libertarian' reactionaries.

Indeed, in more enlightened times republicans were defenders of individual liberty, where today that's no longer the case, the consequence of the Faustian bargain the GOP made with Christian fundamentalist, social conservatives, and fiscal extremists, who misappropriated a republican party once dedicated to diversity and inclusion.

THIS!

The sad thing is that both parties have devolved into garbage. And neither is as interested in what is best for the people as they are in getting reelected and "beating" the other party.

Horse shit. Well, it's a post from Adam_Clayton, so OF COURSE it's horse shit.

OF COURSE there is such a thing as a RINO, you imbecile.

The Republican Party is split between the batshit crazy part of the party ( known as Trump voters) and regular Republicans

That 30% of the party demands strict compliance with conservative doctrine, no tax increases, no funding of social programs and no compromise.

While not strong enough to actually win national elections, they are strong enough to tie up the party and force unsinkable conservative positions

^ More bleating crap. And simply wrong.

There is a whole group of Republicans who barely give a shit about what (if anything) the Party stands for.

But there is a large base that is very concerned with the matters of LIMITED CONSTITUTIONAL Government.

Those who DON'T care about the actual purposes of the Constitution but who simply shuffle along accepting whatever crap the PARTY is willing to dispense are kind of clutter.

The percentages are NOT actually known, despite your willingness to make numbers up out of thin air.

Those Republicans who claim to care about constitutional government know very little outside the second amendment and states rights

^ another in a long litany of utterly baseless and mindless left wing nut-bar claims. But thanks for sharing your partisan drivel. It may be worthless and boring, but ... that's it.

nope, same standards different issues... who decides who's a RINO?

how about a so called Republican who stands on the podium and denounces the values of our greatest American city?

American in name only... presidential candidate in name only...

Its your ridiculous thread

You start out with a baseless claim that there is no split and then ignore any evidence showing there is

Can you imagine declaring that eight million citizens are not real Americans?
