Brexit: suspending parliament should not be ruled out, says Dominic Raab
The Tory leadership contender Dominic Raab has said the possibility of sidelining parliament to force through Brexit should not be ruled out, as to do so would weaken the UK’s negotiating position in Brussels.
Well here in a nutshell is the hypocrisy of the authoritarian right. Cant get our way then we will just get rid of you. Its a glimpse of life outside the EU.
What do you mean, can't get our way? The country voted for this and it's the opposition who have been in defiance trying to get their way.
The opposition is across all parties. Parliament has sovereignty over an indicative referendum and the leavers have failed to find a version of brexit that will not cripple the country. That is why frothers like Raab want to shutdown Parliament. Its an act of dictatorship.
The support for Brexit is across most parties, people who voted against it acknowledge it must now happen, and Brexit will happen. The people who cripple the economy will be the Remainers who won't support any deal and therefore force a no deal exit from the EU. Raab putting the backstop in play would be a good move. It is what the EU is concerned about most and May was weak in not using it as a gambit.
And the resumption of the troubles is a price worth paying ? Please come back when you have a proper solution not some half baked nonsense.
You make your assumptions and will make mine. You think there will be another armed conflict. I think it will reunify Ireland. Either way, no deal means no deal on Ireland so a hard border would be inevitable unless Northern Ireland got off their religious high horse. If that comes to pass, it will be because of people like you, not the ones who have been willing to try to be productive instead of obstructionist. At this point, the obstructionists should start being charged with treason for undermining the government's effort to effective the will of the people. If you want to live in the EU, then move to the EU.
