But not as much more as I am saving/earning more. I am still coming out far ahead. Why is this so confusing for you.
Let's look at gas. At the start of 2020 I was driving about 15,000 miles a year to get to work and back. That is about $1000 in gas alone just to get to work and back. Today I am paying about a dollar more a gallon. But the miles I am not driving have saved me far more than the extra gas cost me.
And my 401k and investments have made up for any loss due to inflation by about 100 times. My 401k is up more than 35% for the year.
