Oral contraceptives carry a one and 1000 risk of blood clots, which is a whole lot higher than one in 1 million. The risk increases if the woman is a smoker. This risk has been known since I was taking birth control pills in the 1970s because it’s a factor that I considered when I was taking them. The vaccine risk from blood clots is a fraction of the risk for those taking birth control pills, but no one has ever suggested that women should stop taking birth control pills because of this risk.

The risk of Covid causing blood clots is 10 times higher than the risk of the vaccine causing blood clots.

The CDC cleared the pause on the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. I assume there will be a warning for women using hormonal BCP.
