Before Texas started this they had 40 EC votes, after this that STILL have 40 EC votes. The Constitution and Federal Law sets the allocation of House Seats based on the census and just because Texas gerrymandered does not change the number of seats. Your hypothetical change in population has no bearing.

Just FYI, no I didn't. The population grown in Texas since the last census didn't change the number of Represenatives/EC votes for Texas.

Trump telling Texas to redistrict, and Abbott and Texas complying wasn't based on population, it was about reducing DEM seats and increasing GOP seats within the same number of allocated represenatives.

Maine's second district, for instance, is very conservative and rural, but they mostly elect Democrats because outside of Trump's populism and celebrity status, what the GOP stands for is pretty repulsive for most of them.
