Bought a substantial item off of Amazon back in 2021 during Covid. Also added the 5 year protection plan. Now apparently, the item might need service. So I accessed the purchase protection plan at Amazon:
- The documentation contained no actual details on how to contact the warranty company for service!
- Calling Amazon directly, they would not answer their phone, the automation trying to "prove" my identity through a means I don't even use nor would it listen.
- 20 minutes later, finally got through to a human being who was barely intelligible.
- They sent me to a website to file a claim except the website doesn't work.
- Website gave no actual contact info.
- Finally got a telephone number off Amazon.
- Person I reached barely spoke English.
- They wanted me to send all kinds of photos of documentation because they don't actually have access to Amazon database to confirm coverage.
- They wanted me to not only take a picture of the item but to turn it over to take a picture of the actual damage assuming it could even be seen in a picture and accessed!
- They finally approved the claim.
- Days later I got a few emails saying someone would contact me in a few days. They didn't say how.
- I called the phone number on the tag and they don't handle scheduling, will have to wait for contact. Didn't say HOW they would be contacting me, or by who, their name or number.
- On last day for them to contact me, today, I see an out of state toll free number called my house.
- I missed the call.
- I didn't get their message.
- I tried calling them back and got another person who was barely intelligible tell me they wanted to come out today same day as their calling but now it was too late.
- Can't reschedule me. I will have to go back in the que now and wait to be contacted again.
