Home opener tomorrow!!!

Another one of those magnificent days!

Yankees play at 1:00.....I get to see a new pitcher in the rotation....and, tonight....first game of the Stanley Cup play-offs: Go Rangers!

.
Well, the Cubs finally won the World Series, and Trump was elected President. Pretty much anything can happen at this point. Good luck.

Karma

Tim Tebow and Tom Glavine are two offbeat talents in professional sports. Tebow started out as a Heisman-winning QB for the 2006/2008 BCS champion Florida Gators and played with the NFL teams Eagles and Jets before beginning his baseball career (outfielder) for the NY Mets. Glavine was an outstanding pitcher for the Atlanta Braves and was the MVP of the 1995 World Series.

Tebow and Glavine are interesting professional athletes whose achievements mark a nice intersection between talent and success. We can therefore consider how they generally represent 'sports karma.'

I'm psyched about the recent (post-2000) World Series wins by the White Sox, the Royals, and the Cubs. That's excellent karma! They should post more 'Roller-Coaster' stories like this for Hall of Fame/Museum records and book-keepers.

Now...if the NY Islanders boasted similar successes, I'd REALLY be psyched about sports karma of late (I'm a big Tavares fan)...

====

TEBOW: Is collegiate achievement in sports less valuable than professional achievements?
GLAVINE: I don't think so. Modern TV coverage makes collegiate sports very popular.
TEBOW: I don't think I'll repeat my successes with the Gators in the NFL/MLB.
GLAVINE: You never know...
TEBOW: I remember when you were the World Series MVP, when the Braves defeated the Indians.
GLAVINE: Yeah, that was awesome...
TEBOW: I was rooting for the Indians, since I'm a huge fan of the movie Major League (Tom Berenger).
GLAVINE: Right, Berenger's character (Jake Taylor) was a catcher for the Indians.
TEBOW: Well, what can you do? Life is not like the movies...
GLAVINE: Sometimes (just sometimes) life is more intriguing than the movies.
TEBOW: For example?
GLAVINE: Two upstart NFL QBs (Ferragamo and Brady) started out as unpopular but became very exciting!

Game One was.....exhilarating!!!

Best game of the year for the Rangers!

Pretty good game two....but "They hung on and hung in, even while getting essentially nothing at all throughout the night from Zibanejad and Chris Kreider for a second straight night."
http://nypost.com/2017/04/15/rangers-couldnt-get-one-thing-they-needed-when-it-mattered/

I'd add Hayes to that list.

Still to go back to NY 1-1 is OK>

Sunday!!!

And it was great getting the Yankees during commericials and between periods.

Too bad I can no longer sync the radio with the TV: I hate having to listen to Rosen.

I'm still upset the Isles blew it at the end; it really looked like they were going to get into the playoffs after they fired Capuano. Then they got sooooo close...frustrating! That's the Isles.

Well...I hope to be misguided, but the weakness of my Rangers' defense doesn't bode well for a long Cup tour.
The Isles, it seems, are making noises about going back to the Island.

I'll be watching the battle in an hour and a half.....but not biting my nails, as I don't expect much.

That game one was the best I've seen them play this season.
And no Yankees tonight.

Fishstix next year!

OMG!

What an embarrassment that game last night was.

This iteration of a hockey team should decline their paychecks.

It's only 2-1, still plenty of series left to play!

It's not the loss that is an embarrassment....I said earlier that I didn't expect this bunch to go far.....it's the lack of effort.

Game one was close to a religious experience....the hitting was awesome....like hockey should be played.

But....the bright side: I watched the game on NBC sports....and didn't have to listen to the yammering fool, Sam Rosen.

Thanks for the encouragement.

"It doesn’t matter where this Game 3 of the opening round was played. There is no excuse whatsoever for the puny performance the Rangers trotted out onto the Garden ice in their 3-1 defeat to the Canadiens on Sunday night.

What a disappointment.

What a letdown.
...a team that played without any visible sense of urgency and could not muster the energy and will that are required for the postseason,...

The lone exception being Henrik Lundqvist....

Mika Zibanejad was simply dreadful while spending his night on the perimeter until he spent much of the third period on the bench, put there by coach Alain Vigneault. Kevin Hayes played passively again. And with Derek Stepan fighting it all night, ..."

Larry Brooks is far too easy on this bunch.

"No, ‘Henrik Lundqvist and the Rangers’ are formidable. But when No. 61 plays well enough that they can be referred to as ‘Rick Nash and the Rangers,’ ....

And that is what Nash gave in this must-have 2-1 win, not just scoring the winning goal but positioning himself to score three or four if he had gotten the proper bounces, playing with an edge and a determination that make him − on such nights − the best player on the ice.

Tuesday night, he delivered all right, right to Carey Price’s front door."
Rangers are different team when Rick Nash is at his best

Are you feeling better about the Rangers now? ;)

You heard me scream last night, huh?

Things changed after the fight, didn't they.

And, I like how the officials put their whistles away for most of the game.
That's my kinda hockey.
