My state has had no excuse absentee ballot voting for a few decades now....and i personally love it and have used the mail in voting for years and years....

same with Florida, and a slew of other States for twenty or more years!

I believe more than 36 states and DC have no excuse absentee voting now, it's been expanding.

13 states, plus New York, do not.... an excuse is required. (Edit, OOPS ...forgot to check Hawaii and Alaska)

If New York's constitution does not allow it, then so be it! They must amend their constitution and if they can't, then they are out of luck.

Nobody has a problem with maintaining voter lists, or promptly removing dead people from the list, as long as it's not arbetrarily done at the last minute where scores of elegable voters are disallowed, and new voters aren't allowed to be added within a reasonable time before elections. There was a question as to how close an observer could be to the actual vote counting. Less than 6 feet away leaves private information available to be seen. Voting machines are always checked, and double checked, and even tripple checked in many cases. Fox ended up paying nearly 800 million for lying about voting machine security.

The declaration of the winner is final and takes place earlier than Jan 6th, with certification in each state, and the electoral college voting in December.

And really, the key is keeping the voter lists up to date, with enough time to notify voters they are being removed and enough time for a voter to object and be kept on the list....

No dead people, no felons depending on the State, and no non citizens, and no one under 18. If voter lists are kept up to date and accurate, and the voter has to individually request an absentee ballot be mailed to them, it solves all problems and possible cheating that could occur.

Tracking numbers on envelopes and a way for the voter to check and see that their ballot has been received and not lost or rejected, would be good also imo.

No excuse mail in voting has worked fine in lots of states. Each ballot can match one, and only one registered voter.
