Let’s see what happens if the newly elected Mayor of New York is able to implement his socialist agenda. Lots of young people have been given this romanticized fantasy of what socialism is it will be interesting to see how the feel about when they experience the reality of it and discover its not the nirvana they have been told it is.

Those screeching that the US should be socialist always seem to think that they will raise everyone up to middle or upper middle class standards, not realizing that they would actually pull most of the middle class down to lower class status. There are countries in Europe that are essentially socialist yet offer a decent quality of life. Denmark comes to mind. My guess is because those governments aren't thoroughly corrupt and actually give a shit about the nation's quality of life. Most other countries that are essentially socialist are thoroughly corrupt and offer a bad quality of life. Venezuela comes to mind. America is sliding into its own form of crony socialism and is already thoroughly corrupt. It will never be able to offer a decent quality of life and is destined to be just like all the other third world socialist countries.

I’m no expert on political systems but from what I’ve observed over the last fifteen years or so, it seems to me that socialism or socialist policies purport to be for the greater good but they also come at the cost of individual liberties.

As an individualist, I’m not in favor of socialism though I understand some socialist programs are inevitable. I’m okay with that much but socialism just sounds like way too much government for my taste.

Take the NHS in the UK as an example. Its collapsing and out of funds. Wait times for treatment are in moths even years for surgery. They pay more and get less. There is no mental health for children you have to pay for that yourself. NO dental at all.

Such an operation costs between £10 and 15k in the UK private, that is up to about $26k Dollars lets hope you don't need two, the people laughing all the way to the bank are the insurance Companies who in many cases find small print clauses not to pay out.
