So the FCC chair is threatening networks that broadcast unfavorable news

Of course you have, you’re just not smart enough to realize it.
I don't think you should be talking about smarts when you are under the belief you have a first amendment right to a broadcast license, and you admitted you aren't interested in a President interested in the truth

You aren’t smart enough to understand what I’ve written and it shows.

Letting the president be the arbiter of news distortion opens the door to suppression of speech and corrupt abuse of office.
Maybe Congress should of thought of that back in 1934 when they created the law.

but, frankly I think they likely wanted a President to be interested in the truth and wanted one willing to enforce the law, because they thought broadcast networks distorting the news was a bigger threat to our democracy

So Trump determines what the truth is.

It’s not a ministry of truth, it’s just dictates from a central authority.
And that is exactly what happened during Covid, the government tried to control the narrative and both examples are wrong and both examples needed and need to be stopped immediately.

Politics shouldn’t matter, saying one was worse than the other is just stupid, any form of government censorship is absolutely unacceptable and should be called out and stopped immediately.

They thought the FCC would be an independent agency, but that’s out the window now. Trump is the first president to have assumed 100% control over the FCC.

Congress never intended for the president to be the arbiter of truth. Trump took that power.

The difference is that Trump administration is threatening to take government action against broadcasters, which is different than what the Biden administration did.

Yup. Your TDS hate reaches down to the janitors at the local SS administration office in Reseda.
I guess you haven’t paid any attention to the changes in the executive branch.

There’s no such thing as independent agencies, or protections for any federal employee.

They didn’t make it one

They could have but didn’t

Try again.

Congress did make one, but Trump decided he didn’t like that and the conservatives on the Supreme Court are going to overturn precedent to let him do it.

No different, they are both trying to suppress free speech by using political pressure.

Both sides do it and both need to be called out, wrong is wrong no matter the tactic.

“Pressure” is a meaningless weasel word.

There’s a difference between identifiable threats of government action and not.

Where in the stat does it say it’s a mn independent agency?

What case law would the court be over turning that says it’s an independent agency?

Like the Fairness Doctrine?

Again, you defend one side and not the other, that is a very dangerous ideology amd leads to tyranny.

What Trump is doing is pressuring the media by a threat.

Pressure is pressure and you are being dishonest for trying appease your side and demonize the other, you are just like your leaders.
