Critics Blast Trump FCC Chief for Threats Over Iran War Coverage

Letting political hacks decide what constitutes “fair” is bonkers.
I totaly agree, which is why this needs to be done. Before we had the Biden administration in contact with the media telling them what was information and what was misinformation. All we ask is that when you report bad things about Trump and the Republicans you also report the good things. And the same thing holds true about the Democrats. When you report the good things democrats do, you also report the bad things as well.

Biden asked, and it wasn’t anything to do with his own political benefit, rather about public health.

Trump is ordering, or else face the consequences of his government ruining your business. He’s ordering media on how they cover his administration.

‘Several politicians and media figures have criticized Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Brendan Carr for issuing a statement on Saturday in which he attacked the media over its coverage of the Iran War and threatened to pull licenses if they do not "operate in the public interest."

Carr, in a lengthy post on X, accused broadcasters of "running hoaxes and news distortions" and warned they must "correct course before their license renewals come up." "It is very important to bring trust back into media, which has earned itself the label of fake news," he wrote. "Time for change!"

Why It Matters

Carr's post follows President Donald Trump's criticism of American news media earlier on Saturday, in which he accused news organizations of publishing "intentionally misleading" headlines about the war.

The president has struggled with messaging about the conflict, which has continued for two weeks and appears to have no clear end in sight, even as the president insists the U.S. has "beaten and completely decimated Iran, both militarily, economically, and in every other way."’

Carr’s attack on a free press violates the First Amendment, not that anyone in the Trump regime cares about the Constitution.

Issuing threats against a free press is of course typical of an authoritarian regime.

And there’s nothing ‘misleading’ about the press’ reporting on Trump’s war.
Sorry, you don't have a first amendment right to a broadcast license.

and broadcasters should lose their license if they are distorting the news, as the law requires.

The FCC is an independent agency. They don't get their marching orders from Trump. Can you prove Trump ordered the FCC to take this action? However, all the FCC wants to do is make sure the news is presented fairly and without a bias to both sides. However, I can understand how that gets your panties in a wad.

They were an independent agencies but that doesn’t exist anymore under Trump. Trump has decided all the independent agencies are under his control and if anyone does anything he doesn’t like, he can fire them at will.

No, I think the FCC wants to do Trump’s bidding, which is to portray the news in a positive light for his administration.

You think? So, you admit you have no proof.

I am still waiting on your to provide us where in the Code creating it, where Congress said it was independent.

I know that the FCC no longer things they’re independent.

So they do whatever Trump wants them to do.

You don’t think Trump wants the news to bend to his will?
Because they were never an indpendent agency

Glad we have a grown up there now, that took the time to read the law.

of course I do, hence why I provided the code for you.

I get you want to pretend the words don't mean anything, but they do....

I think Trump wants the news to report honestly and fair, not everything against Trump.
