Zone1 So I've discovered the meaning of life

Life is a seemingly endless series of repetitive processes.

And that's pretty much all it is. :laughing0301:

without an end result is to simply perish - to reach assenting plateau's is life w/ meaning - to triumph (over evil) of any form is to free ones spirit to live freely in the everlasting.

just very few ever succeed - to reach a moment of singularity the same as the big bang to emerge as a new being.

I am not proceeding to make breakfast, which in itself, consists of many processes: Wash the peppers and onions, chop the peppers and onions, fry the peppers and onions, chop thye potatoes from last night's dinner, add the potatoes from last night's dinner...

Next I will proceed to open the new roll of sausage in the fridge, slice the sausage into patties, fry the sausage patties, put them in the oven with the biscuits to keep them warm....all processes.

Then I shall proceed to crack the eggs, scramble the eggs, season the eggs, mix the peppers and onions with the eggs.... all a seemingly never-ending string of processes that go on, an on, and on...

:laughing0301:
What time should I come over. That looks delicious.

Life opened up a new chapter for me today.

I picked up a 1953 Savage 99 in .300 Savage in nice shape....Never owned a 99 before.

Because the science is quite a bit beyond my skill set, I can’t claim to know if the new theories in quantum mechanics (etc.) are actual and factual or just speculation. However, I’ve read a lot recently about quantum science. And if my understanding is correct, it is suggested that none of us actually exist; we are vastly more mere empty space than “matter; and the purpose of not just our life but all life is — information.

Yeah. I don’t really get it, either.

I wouldn't say information is the purpose of life as much as I would say the nature of existence is information. We exist in the mind of God.
Your philosophy is no more or less well grounded than some others we read about.

But, to be clear, I wasn’t trying to address philosophy. I was addressing some mind-blowing theories and implications from the study of quanta.

I know.

"The physical world is entirely abstract and without ‘actuality’ apart from its linkage to consciousness. It is primarily physicists who have expressed most clearly and forthrightly this pervasive relationship between mind and matter, and indeed at times the primacy of mind." Arthur Eddington wrote, “the stuff of the world is mind‑stuff. The mind‑stuff is not spread in space and time." Von Weizsacker stated what he called his “Identity Hypothesis; that consciousness and matter are different aspects of the same reality. In 1952 Wolfgang Pauli said, "the only acceptable point of view appears to be the one that recognizes both sides of reality -- the quantitative and the qualitative, the physical and the psychical -- as compatible with each other, and can embrace them simultaneously . . . It would be most satisfactory of all if physis and psyche (i.e., matter and mind) could be seen as complementary aspects of the same reality." George Wald

That might place a cart before a horse.

It may, instead, be the case that all of what we see in the universe consist of various “vibrations” in a “field” which manifest themselves as time, space, matter and energy. (I confess that I have no clue what the “field” consists of.)

And it may be the case that our consciousness is merely another expression of those “vibrations.” If so, then it isn’t consciousness that creates everything. Instead, consciousness is just another byproduct of vibrations in some “field.”

It’s also possible that all of those theories are nonsensical, too. Seriously, WTF do any of us know?

I'm not sure it really matters from a practical point of view. It is what it is regardless of what we believe.

During one of my classroom lectures while at University - the professor asked, "What is the meaning of life?" She had students raise their hands and answer....

"To create"

"To further develop civilization"

"To find your own path"

I raised my hand, she called on me - and in my ignorant, "College boy mentality" stated, "To reproduce".

Almost everyone in the class laughed.

30 years later - that statement still holds true at the most basic level of humanity - as animals, we are to survive and reproduce.

30 years later - I have gained wisdom - the very thing that separates human beings from animals.

Now the answer to the question is, "The purpose of life is to reproduce. Not just physically - but to reproduce an element of yourself within the world around you - whether it be mind, body or Spirit. And with that, the ultimate purpose of life is to be a Witness to the miracle of life itself and the world around you."

Once you understand that, everything else will come naturally - helping the poor, the less fortunate, the persecuted - those around you who are still wondering what the purpose of life is.

For if the purpose of life is to be a Witness to the world around you - you will naturally want others to reproduce elements of themselves so that they too can be witnesses to the miracle of life and the world - the way it was intended to be witnessed.

I tend to agree.

But that kind of makes the asking of such questions (or even obtaining additional information along the way) pointless. This is especially true if we are never going to derive the answer no matter how hard we study or for how long.

Just wandering through life may be “ok.” So many things are interesting, it seems like a full time job though.
Nothing wrong with that at all. In fact that very well may be the best thing to do. You seem like a level headed, even keel kind of a person. As near as I can tell all religions teach to exist perfectly which doesn't mean doing perfect things. To me existing perfectly means to be even keeled, reasonable and objective. I'm going to screw up. We all are. It's how we respond to our screw ups and the screw ups of others that determine if we are existing perfectly.

Some would say that about all things but I'm a big believer that experiencing the journey is decidedly not pointless. That everything matters to me even if it only matters to me. Take that "new" lever action of yours. If it matters to you then it's not pointless. Even if someone else believes it is.

No, you have been on a mission from your Creator, [The Being of Light of near death experience fame], since even before you were conceived.

2. Mission Information Revealed Through NDEs

RaNelle Wallace learned everyone promised God before birth to accomplish our mission to bring about goodness on Earth: “[Before birth] we raised our right arms, just as we might in a court of law, and we made a sacred covenant with God that we would do all in our power to accomplish our missions on Earth. And I felt the tremendous honor of making this covenant before our Heavenly Father. We vowed, in effect, to become partners with him in bringing about goodness on Earth. We promised to use our time and energies and talents to help bring about the savior’s full purposes, to help bring our brothers and sisters back to him and to our Father again.”

Analisa D. learned from God that everyone has a mission: “I am intensely grateful to God for letting me glimpse the afterlife and to know that we are all here on a mission, each and everyone of us. It is as though God’s love is coursing through me and I have the ability to give so much love to people. It is wonderful!”

God assured William Si he will return after completing his mission: “I have a promise made to me by the Creator, the moment my mission in this existence is over, I will leave immediately and I don’t care how I go out. I just want to go home.”

God told Elzada O. her mission was not finished: “I remember God telling me something that my mission on Earth was not finished. In other words it wasn’t my time.”
