A dear friend today got an email highlighted as "IMPORTANT" by her mail program.
The title, in all-daps, read: A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM FATHER..........." (I purposely omitted his name)
It read:
Note from the Bishops (USCCB) on the new Equality Act trying to be passed by the Biden administration:
“The Equality Act, which is being voted on in the U.S. House of Representatives soon, in many ways does the opposite and needs to be opposed. Instead of respecting differences in beliefs about marriage and sexuality, the Equality Act would discriminate against people of faith. The Equality Act would: punish faith-based organizations, such as charities and schools who serve everyone in their communities…[It would] force girls and women to compete against boys and men for limited opportunities in sports, and to share locker rooms and shower spaces with biological males who identify as women; risk mandating taxpayers to fund abortions; force people in everyday life, and especially health care workers, to support gender transition; and expand what the government considers a “public” place, forcing even some parish halls to host functions that conflict with Catholic beliefs. [1]” Please pray that this Act is not passed and that religious freedoms and true freedom in our country remains protected. St. Joseph, in this year that the world honors you and your fatherhood of the Child Jesus on this earth, we pray for your intercession and for that same fatherly protection over our country and our freedom in this critical time. Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for us! Amen.
The message included a link to "contact your senator to vote against this act"
Note it didn't mention contacting your U.S. Representative....that body has already been written off, it would seem.
So what's so funny?
This is the same church that never missed an opportunity to vilify Presiden Trump.
This is the very same church that never missed an opportunity to (verbally) crucify Republican House and Senate encumbents.
Yes, boys and girls, and I am no preacher.....but from this we must learn: "Be careful for that for which you pray" "Your prayers may be answered - perhaps more fully and more quickly than you sought."
The hypocricy of this letter almost makes me hope Xiden's toy gets wheels!
Almost.
Oh, she had no idea why I was laughing.
