Should welfare recipients be prohibited from buying cruise vacations?

The question isn’t why poor people pick Carnival.

The question is why people who claim to need OTHER people’s money to feed their children - and take it! - somehow have the money to go on a cruise in the first place.

I would think it's a good assumption that all the Lefties here arguing with you are themselves "gaming" the system for their own benefit one way or the other. Regardless of their true lies of denial. It's what they do. Likely they are municipal employees doing quite well at taxpayers demise and couldn't care less.

They're also likely Communists.

HOW DARE THEY!!!

How dare they scrape together the $150 for a 3 night cruise.

Damn, poor people competing with Lisa for that all-you-can-eat buffet!

Everyone games the system.

Clueless in Seattle.
You know NOTHING about the system.
It is VERY common for four generations of welfare takers to be simultaneously collecting benefits: 52-year-old great-grandma, her daughters ages 34 and 36, THEIR children, ages 19, 17, 14, 12, and the two older daughters’ babies (the great-grandchildren), ages 2 and 1 — and every single one collecting food stamps and Medicaid.

(The scary thing to think is that I was in college when the great-grandmother was born!)

If parents cannot afford to feed their children without responsible taxpayers giving them money for it, then how can they buy a cruise vacation? If reality, taxpayers are paying for the cruise because the welfare recipients didn’t have to pay for food,

Of course, this would be hard to enforce. Perhaps a workaround would be a minimal credit score of say, 500, in order to board. Most welfare recipients I’ve worked with (when I volunteer taught financial literacy) had abysmal credit scores, and some with $10,000 debit.

If cruises limited guests to people who feed their own families, we’d see less of the brawls like like these:

There is so much wrong with this screed that I hardly know where to begin. First and foremost.... the article makes no mention of these people being on welfare.

Other observations:

She cruise lines be required to determine a passengers source of income? What about the free enterprise that you conservatives are always bleating about?

Credit score? That is even more stupid...Lots of people who are not on assistance have low scores.

Should government be required to provide welfare information to cruise lines? What about other businesses that can be considered a luxury like restaurants and sporting venues?

What about privacy......something else that you people like to ***** about....at least when it's your privacy

Obviously you have not thought this through....or maybe have not thought at all. It seems like you racial hatred has totally overtaken any ability for rational thought on your part

Lisa just wants to punish poor people for being poor, and black people for being black.

does that go for corporate welfare queens too?

hmmmm.... the same way people who have more money than god, but get huge tax breaks, ballrooms, airplanes, UFC events, ect ect ect... for free.

i forgot about arches ...

Lisa just wants to punish poor people for being poor, and black people for being black.
There is a plethora of pathetically mean, hateful and outright stupid people on this board. My fear is that they are representative of the general population . May the gods and goddesses help us.

Raw numbers dont tell the truth
In the United States, White Americans comprise the largest numerical group receiving welfare benefits, making up roughly 35-44% of recipients. However, when looking at the data relative to population size, Black and Hispanic Americans are statistically overrepresented. [1, 2, 3, 4]
The demographic profile of welfare (e.g., SNAP, TANF, Medicaid) users spans several dimensions: [1, 2, 3]
  • Race and Ethnicity: While White individuals are the largest total group, Black and Hispanic populations have higher rates of participation relative to their total numbers. For instance, on the federal SNAP (food stamps) program, Black and Hispanic individuals make up over half of the recipient base despite being smaller percentages of the total U.S. population. [1, 2, 3, 4]
    • Families with Children: Nationally, over 62% of SNAP participants are in families with children. Single-mother households represent a highly dependent demographic, making up nearly 44% of child recipients. [1, 2]
    • Employment Status: Despite work requirements, a significant portion of aid recipients live in working families, while many others report no employment at all (often due to caretaking duties or disabilities). [1, 2]
    • Education: Individuals with a high school diploma or less formal education are approximately three times more likely to receive assistance than college gradu
My post already said that Hafar.

That’s because there are more whites than blacks here. But blacks are twice as likely to be on welfare than whites.

And that is directly correlated to the shameful 73% out of wedlock rate. Get that under control, and the percentage of blacks on welfare would drop significantly.
That's correct with percentages....

which means Hafar's post I responded to, was incorrect.

You have yet to prove your theory has any merit. Where is your proof that these people are on SNAP?

You know this how?

Thank you. It’s not “hating on poor people” to point out that if food stamp recipients have enough money to spend it on a cruise, American taxpayers are overpaying for their food.

If someone asked me for $1,000 to buy her kids food because she’s out of money, and then I see her go on a cruise, I’d want my money.

Yes, it means they're not really poor and are just gaming the system, and in doing so take away funds that should be going to the really poor and needy. I see a lot of that in doing charity work, big fat morbidly obese people in new cars lining up at the food banks and carting off tons of food and supplies while actual poor people can't even get to the sites in the first place unless they're in walking distance and their kids are old enough to walk a long way, and of course they can't carry much back home.

That’s why the Democrats have lost the working class. These responsible people are stuck with ground beef, struggle to pay rent, and costume jewelry while they see welfare recipients buying steak, living in subsidized housing, and thick gold chains.

They also scam the Toys for Tots program. I used to participate, wanting to buy inexpensive toys and needed items for poor children.

But then they switched (at least the way they ran it in my liberal town) to where the “takers” would first itemize what they needed. Was it pajamas? An arts and crafts project? A new Barbie doll? No. They listed expensive items - an iPad, a TV, a leather jacket, etc.

Someone then told me that they then sell these items for cash.

I’ve worked since I was 15 any have never received a penny of welfare assistance in my life

So, you’re wrong as usual

Except most people don't collect welfare for more than a few years, much less generations.
40% of people on assistance work, just don't make enough money to pay rent or buy food.
100% BS Welfare created a culture of poverty baby mommas and single mothers
