Unfortunately while it should be easy, it also should have been easy well before they suffered this humiliation. So nothing's changed, really. On both sides of the aisle, the few reasonable minds left in the game are drowned out by the magnitudes of loud mouthed idiots. It's the masses of loud mouthed idiots who have the power. They control the finances, they control the social media engagement rate, they control "lulz" that constitute public opinion in this artificial reality we call the modern day world. The real challenge for Democrats is figuring out the internal politics of trying to herd the idiots among their ranks away from idiotic ideas.

Just because they're lying in a steaming puddle of goo doesn't mean that up is the only place left to go. They can still permeate laterally. And that is, after all, more indicative of their strategic thinking for many years now. So as absurd as it is, we probably shouldn't be surprised to see that they're still looking to the left and to the right, expecting to find a new path "forward". Democrats are going to have to be hard baked dry into a thin, flaky film before they run out of self destructive options. As it is, we shouldn't be surprised if Democrats continue to lay in a goo for the foreseeable future, surviving off of nothing more than the occasional rain that rehydrates them just enough to think they might stand one more chance.

I'm hoping--hoping, though not necessarily expecting--a fracture may yet occur, and that what sensible Democrats are left might look for a merger with anti-maga Republicans to stake out a new centrist party.

Both party's stink. Why can you see it!
Few work for us, the working Americans who keep the whole thing running.
And yes the Republicans have gone nuts! want the debt celling raised by FIVE TRILLION.

Not at all.

My support of a given party (and I've been a Republican and a Democrat over the years) has to deal with two factors.

1) How many of my personal objectives are they trying to achieve?

2) What is their probability of achieving some of them?


Now, on point number 2, third parties will always, always fail. Because at the end of the day, successful political parties are coalitions of interest groups. This is why most Libertarians have abandoned the joke that is out there trying to get matching funds (Seriously, can you not see the ******* irony?) for the GOP.

On point number 1, it depends on what my objectives are. For instance, in the 1980s, I voted consistently Republican because at the time, I was in the military, and the GOP funded the military properly. (Compared to Carter or Clinton, who were always looking for peace dividends)

Step One
Drop the whole destructive Political Correctness/Identity Politics fiasco NOW. Stop dividing Americans into little pieces and pitting them against each other. Stop screaming and intimidating and punishing people for saying what they think. Stop ruining family businesses for refusing to bake a ******* CAKE. Stop deplatforming conservative voices on college campuses. Stop pretending there are 58 (or whatever the number is now) genders. Stop having flamboyant transsexuals read books to parents' young children in class. Apologize for terms like "Toxic Masculinity" and "Cultural Appropriation". You blew it. This was stupid from the start. ******* DROP IT.

Step Two
Focus like a ******* laser beam on the Middle Class (assuming it isn't too late, and it may be). No, not the Black Middle Class or the Brown Middle Class or the Purple Middle Class or the Gay Middle Class. The AMERICAN MIddle Class. Drop the ******* hyphenations. Come up with some NEW IDEAS that fit a rapidly changing and more competitive global economy. Modify and streamline existing ideas like Unions, Vocational Schools and Retirement Plans. I swear it wouldn't be that difficult.

Anyone who was here before 2016 knows that I was considered evil by the LEFTIES here because I was screaming this every ******* day. I had "Political Correctness Derangement Syndrome". I was called every name in the book and squabbled with every lefty on the board over it. Turns out I was right.

That's the problem with a two party system. If the party on the left is run by ineffective people, there's no one else to step in.

In the UK the Tory leader, whoever she is (I know she's a woman, but don't know her name), is very ineffective so it's opened the way for Farage and his nonsense.

The US needs a different political system, fast.

The LEAST we could do is fix THIS one, but overall we just don't care enough.

I've seen a couple of pieces about how AOC is the "face of the party" now. Do you agree with that, and do you think she should be moving up in the party now?
