Robert McNamara, father of the Vietnam war. He was called a "wonderkind". (during the Kennedy administration) He was a genius. He advocated FOR the Vietnam war, even though he knew it was unwinnable (his words) and he became the secretary of defense.

I have to backtrack to Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the Atom bomb. He quotes from Hindu scripture, seemed unaware that the BOMB these geniuses created would be used apparently. McNamara was a genius, so was Oppenheimer. They both KNEW bloody well where their endeavors lead to.

As in most of our wars since WWII they fought it to lose. Militaries Win Wars..........Politicians lose them.

Had we invaded the North and not fought on the enemy's terms. It could have been won. In mass formations going straight at them there was no way they could have stopped us.

But then what would we have done with it? Was a useless War. Made no strategic cense whatsoever.

Should they be held responsible for their decisions?
McNamara certainly should have, as should all politicians who promote and prosecute war. W and O should languishing in Supermax with a life sentence.
